Wow, no love for TBOGT? Sorry for the thread bump, but I have been playing this and got to wondering: will it spoil anything major from the story of GTA IV? Because I haven't played through IV yet, and if that is the case then I want to stop now and start on GTA IV before getting into this one any further.
Can't believe there weren't any posts in here as this is a damn fun game.

Both "Episodes" are pretty entwined with the main storyline from GTA IV. From a story perspective, it'd probably be better to go through GTA IV first.

I completed GTA 4 a long time ago and finally picked up the Complete series which includes GTA 4 along with the expansion for the PS3. Kmart had it for $19.99 last week. I will be getting around to this in the near future.
