Bad Movie But Good DVD?

Does anyone have any examples of bad movies that were good DVDs?

The best example I can think of was the thriller "Disturbing Behavior" which was a really disjointed film but after having watched the deleted scenes and listening to the audio commentary it looked like the movie could have been a lot better but was sabatoged by the studio.

On the commentary the director doesn't come out and place any blame but you can read between the lines that the final cut was not what he intended.

It's an interesting example of a film gone wrong and is fascinating to hear & see why it went wrong.

One of my favorite examples is Willard. The movie is bad, but there is a featurette on the disc documenting its failure, which is kind of interesting.

I'm going with Pearl Harbor: Vista Series. One of the most exquisite DVDs I own, but the movie mostly blows.

Re: Bad Movie But Good DVD?

Caligula and Pearl Harbor are also my best examples. Caligula is fascinating to me because of what it could have been, given the talent involved. Pearl Harbor was never going to be any good for the same reasons, yet both have great DVD presentations that really help to overcome the films' limitations. Of course I suppose you could throw in any Michael Bay special edition to the mix if we're going to talk about crap movies with good DVDs.
