Re: Favorite Movie of the 90's: Round of 64/Group #2
I know it is early but it is kind of surprising that Casino is leading Schlindler's List. Casino is by far the more entertaining, more quotable film, but the artistry and the power of Schlindler's List makes it one of the best movies of all time. Not knocking the voters of Casino, I loved it as well. I just felt it was Goodfellas west, and SL to me is one of Spielberg's top 5 (with Jaws, E.T., Close Encounters, and The Color Purple) while Casino is not one of Martin Scorsese top 5 movies, in fact I would place it above only Kundun, Boxcar Bertha, Cape Fear, and Michael Jackson's Bad video.

Heat (Easy pick even though I liked The Fugitive)
Millers Crossing (by a mile)
Jurassic Park
Total Recall (extremely easy pick. Gump sucks.)
Don't like either one
Schindler's List (can't believe it's losing to a piece of crap like "Casino")
The Big Lebowski
Don't like either one

Maybe he is questioning how so many can FAVOR a "piece of crap" film over a film of such obvious quality like Schindler's List.
Personally, I would not go so far as to call Casino a "piece of crap", but I do tend to empathize with his sentiment. But then, I never equated "rewatchability" with "favor." They are two distinctly different characteristics.

Matchup #1: Neither (didn't really care for Heat, and I have yet to see The Fugitive all the way through)
Matchup #2: Neither (didn't like Titanic and haven't seen Miller's Crossing)
Matchup #3: Jurassic Park
Matchup #4: Forrest Gump
Matchup #5: Clerks (Very close, but I had to go with Kevin Smith on this one)
Matchup #6: Neither (Haven't seen either, but I need to)
Matchup #7: The Big Lebowski
Matchup #8: True Romance (another close one, but if True Romance was against the 2nd Austin Powers movie, it would be a different story altogether)

Wow, a chance to vote against five of my most hated '90s movies--HEAT, TITANIC, JURASSIC PARK, FORREST GUMP and CASINO.
Only two of my real favorites in this round: THE MATRIX and TRUE ROMANCE.
