Getting ready to launch next month. Been waiting for something like this ever since I got bored of City of. Anyone here going to play?

Re: Champions Online anyone?

My standard reaction to MMORPGs is that I don't have the interest in paying a monthly fee to compete with players who will spend 18 hours a day online building their character up to level squadjillion, or to hang out online with a bunch of 12-year-olds who think the height of wit is telling me I'm gay. That said, this game looks very good, and if ever a MMORPG was going to tempt me, this would be the one.

City of Heroes was fun for a short term fix. However, after playing for a while it becomes patently obvious that you're doing the same thing over and over again.

I will try this out because of the folks involved, including Bill Roper (of Diablo fame). But I'm worried that the community may be too small to support the game. It seems that almost everybody is looking forward to Aion which comes out just a few weeks later.

I suspect that the character creation will be worth the price of admission on its own.

City showed there was enough interest in a super hero themed rpg to sustain it for five years, I dont see why this would be any different. Aion, from the little research Ive done seems too PVP focused.

I wonder about the DC Universe online game coming out next year and what that will do to Champions base. It'll be interesting to see how many 360 users pick up Champions (and how many PS3 users pick up DC).

I suspect the console versions of those games will be a long time coming, if ever.

Oh, I hadn't been following the news on these much. So the Champions Online 360 version will not launch close to the PC release?
