Fox bans new Family Guy episode "Partial Terms of Endearment" for upcoming season

http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/07/famil...broadcast.html

Fox has decided not to broadcast a "Family Guy" episode next season that deals with abortion. The episode, which is titled "Partial Terms of Endearment," was produced by sister company 20th TV. Fox released this statement moments ago: "Fox will not air the 'Partial Terms of Endearment' episode of 'Family Guy,' but we fully support the producers' right to make the episode and distribute it in whatever way they want."

The episode came to light when producers talked about the plans on the show's Comic-Con panel, reported this weekend on Live Feed.
I haven't watched Family Guy on a regular basis for a long time, but I guess we will see this episode eventually on dvd.

They said "distribute it in whatever way they want." Maybe they can make it exclusive for abortion clinics. "Maam, we know you've been through a very traumatic experience with sucking your baby out and all, so watch this episode of Family Guy to cheer you up!"

I'm sure it will air on adult swim and be on the DVDs. No biggie.

Ratings must be sagging and Fox decided to use this as a publicity stunt to get viewers back.

It will wind up on Adult Swim just like "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" after Fox refused to air that.

Nah, there's no way. Too many college kids and high schoolers think it's hip to watch.

I imagine that the latest volume of Family Guy didn't sell to expectations and they are doing this stunt to get people to buy the new volume when this episode is released on DVD.

That's okay, I've decided not to support purchasing Fox TV on DVD sets anymore. Though I plan on getting the shows whichever way I want.

So, what's the plot of this? All I can find is that it has something to with abortion?

Ahh, nothing like a little manufactured controversy to generate interest.

Did anyone above college age like this show for more than a few episodes?

Re: Fox bans new Family Guy episode "Partial Terms of Endearment" for upcoming season

What I find hysterical is the statement Fox made...because it should read, "whatever way you want, so long as it is not on TV and we lose our advertising money. But wait didn't we cancel this show a bunch of times only to figure out that it made us even more money. Ah fuck it, let's do some coke".

It is a joke. Fox already knows that the episode is going to come out in some form, this seems like a total PR stunt.

As for the ratings, they dipped because the show has been god awful for about 3 years now.

You think THAT's bad, what about the time NBC banned that episode of Life Goes On directed by Seth Green?

I love you Corky!

The perfect Family Guy joke! Completely random and offensive!

See! Family Guy fans have no sense of humor.

Fwiw, I'm 18 years old (at heart), and own most of the Family Guy sets.

I still enjoy Family Guy, aside from a few unwatchable episodes here and there.

But yeah, I'm 26 and I laugh at almost anything that isn't Two and a Half Men or According to Jim.
