Is Samantha Who? worth watching from the very beginning?

Having never watched this show, my wife and I jumped in part way through this current season and have been enjoying the "burn-off" episodes recently. Was the show as funny, or funnier, in season 1, or is it not really worth going back to?

I didn't realize they were showing the "burn-off" episodes. Oh well -- I was going to buy S2 anyway.

YES, it's definitely worth watching from S1. S1 was funnier in my opinion, but also had some poignancy regarding certain things the viewer knows which Sam had forgotten.

Yes, season 1 was better because they stuck to the basic idea of the series--Samantha having amnesia and discovering a bit about herself in each episode.

In my opinion, the second season strayed from that a bit and became just another sitcom. Too bad, too, because that's what I think led to its cancellation (plus, of course, its long haitus while the main star battled cancer).

Yup. Thursdays. There were 2 on last week and 2 more this week.

There are only 2 seasons? I was thinking 3 for some reason.

Well I rented disc 1 of season 1 during lunch. I only had $1 on me, so I couldn't get both discs. I'll get the second one when I return the first.

I agree that Season 1 is the funnier of the 2, I liked Kiele Sanchez when she was on there, but then again I've missed a few episodes between the hiatus and moving the show around. I will be buying Season 2 when it comes out though.
Kiele pics from Stuff magazine:
Spoiler:
Kiele Sanchez played Todd's girlfriend

She also played "Nikki" on Lost, before she and Paolo were seemingly killed due to fan outrage...

I didn't even realize this series was cancelled. I actually liked the second season better than the first, perhaps because it became more sitcom-like.

We watched the first 4 episodes tonight. I guess I did not get to the ones with Kiele yet.

Episode 10 is were she came in. She also played Jennifer Esposito's little sis on The WB's Related in 2005-2006. She was the big sis of Lizzy Caplan and Laura Breckenridge. Damn, there was alot of eye candy on this show. Sadly, it only lasted 18 episodes.

Yes, definitely try to catch all episodes from both seasons. This started off as my wife's show but I really started to enjoy it as well. We have S1 on DVD and will buy S2 when it is available. I agree with the consensus here so far that S1 > S2 but it is still enjoyable.

I enjoyed both seasons. Fun cast and clever dialogue.

I liked season 1 a lot. I thought season 2 was ok. I don't the show on DVD yet but I'll probably get them at some point.

Well, the last two episodes aired last night. It doesn't look like they even got a chance to wrap everything up because it ended like a season finale and not a series finale.

The only problem with the final episode is that they didn't clip it by about a minute or two. If they had just cut out that final little bit at the very end I think the show would have had a halfway decent conclusion.

In the show's defense, they didn't expect to get cancelled, and as late as the weekend before upfronts they were still on the bubble. So there was really no way to have a formal ending.

I just watched the First Season the other day and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the Second Season coming out on DVD. I hate that so many good shows get canceled so soon.
