I have 2 satellite speakers for the rear speakers. I was wondering if i can hang them straight down poited at my couch. will this give me the best sound.
I was going to put them on shelves behind the couch, but the more i keep thinking about it it seems like the sound will be going straight ahead towards the tv.
Do you want Your rear speakers aimed directly at you ?

Many people have diffrent setups and what works best in one room may not work in another. You could try it, but I'm pretty sure it won't be ideal. Stereo Review did a test with dipole and direct radiating speakers to determine the best placement for each.
Dipole speakers should be mounted high on the wall behind you (about 7 feet). Direct radiating speakers should be mounted about 7 feet up and on opposite side walls directly in line with the listener. I find it helps to point the speakers towards the back wall to help give more ambience.
