These discs are identical to the U.S. editions except for the loss of the digital copy on the first one. These are region-free and will play on any BD player in the world and have all supplements in NTSC.

From everything I've read on the interweb, there is no such thing as PAL Blu-ray. It's a misnomer on Amazon. In fact, when I bought the Planet Earth UK version, I had the same concerns and all was fine.

What matters with Blu-Ray is if it's locked or not for a particular region.
Many many UK Blus are not locked...they're Region Free.

(I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to another site on this, besides a retail page, but, there's a great site that tells exactly which titles from each region are Free to play in all players. If I'm allowed, to, I'll post it - or, just google Blu-Ray region code - it's the first site that comes up).

The films are 1080p/24 and will work on any player worldwide. The extras are 480i/p NTSC.

In fact, these are the same as the US discs but with artwork that has BBFC certificates on them.

Oh, and not sure about the packaging to be honest...but, again from what I've read online, they're slim cases in a box.

It's actually gone up in price from about a week ago. It was £24.98. I bought it for £21.72 after VAT was removed.

ok, im about to bite on this. can anyone give me a good reason why the US release is better than the UK release, other than the digital copy?

One thing about UK(/Euro) BD releases, the spines on their BD cases are about the same width as a regular DVD case. So if shelfspace is starting to be an issue....

Yup, every review I've read says these are the exact same discs as the US version.

The UK versions have the BBFC certificates on the artwork and use the UK Amaray thick case.

The US versions do not have ratings on the art and are in US Elite thin cases.

Some people are anal and want the cases in their collection to all match.

Actually, that has nothing to do with the version. Plus, no matter where you buy the discs from you are supporting the U.S. economy. We are borrowing money from everyone!
