Sade - "Soldier Of Love"
Well, one of the most awaited albums among a lot of my friends is Sade, who have been consistently successful since their (yes, it's a band, not just a woman) debut "Diamond Life" 25 years ago but work on a very sporadic schedule, last studio being from 2000 and the last album before that was 1992.
Details are very sketchy at this point but Sony has launched a new website, SadeUSA.com

Re: Sade to return with new set in late 2009
As a fan, I wish they'd work more often, but they have made so much money that I think they're doing the fans a favor. I know Sade has several kids, not sure about the other members, but I think they're all pretty well-off and I can understand why they only record when it's convenient for all of them.
Plus, one perk about them really taking their time is that every album is a gem because they always only put the cream of the crop on the albums.

Here's them with Maxwell as their guest vocalist: Softly, Softly
Anyway, brilliant news about the new album!!

I thought the last album was sort of meh. Not bad mind you. But certainly not up to the previous efforts. Still looking forward to this though.

The rest of the band would actually seem more eager to record than Sade herself -- they have, after all, put out three albums without her, under the moniker Sweetback.

Sweetback (1st CD) is great. One of my favorites. Maxwell is also releasing a CD in the next few months. Stuart Matthewman (guitarist / saxophonist in Sade) produced and played on his first two CD's.
Also, I might have missed it, but I think there are only two Sweetback CD's - Sweetback and Stage (2).

^That's good though I heard Sade's album would be out this year. It keeps getting pushed back. The anticipation of this lady's (group) next album and performing live again for the first time has got to be out of this world.

After having been dissapointed by Whitney Houston, Tears for Fears return from a long time. I'm not all that thrilled.

Yeah but Whitney was on drugs for most of her "years off", which just ruined her voice. The material was also not very good (IMO). And Tears for Fears hadn't worked together for something like 10 years. I am very optimistic that this band will actually release something worth while! And who know, maybe we can get another live DVD.
I just hope they don't release a trilogy of releases over 3 years, with the first one only clocking in at around 35 minutes (Maxwell).

Re: Sade to return with new set in late 2009
Remember that there was already 8 years between Love Deluxe and Lovers Rock. The "comeback album" then was still excellent.
Besides, rather than Whitney or Tears, I would compare Sade more to someone like Kate Bush, whose 12 year absence ended with Aerial, a brilliant work. Maxwell is another comparison, and I have nothing against 35 minute albums.
Now that Sade is back, Maxwell has put out a record and Erykah Badu released hers last year, all we need is Remy Shand to come back from total obscurity.

From Sade's Facebook page 12.7.09
Soldier Of Love' is the highly anticipated first single off Sade's forthcoming new body of work by the same name.
Sade co-produced the single 'Soldier Of Love' with Mike Pela and it was written by Sade along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman.
The track, featuring a pulsating and anthemic drum beat along with the haunting vocals that Sade is known for, is set to hit airwaves on 8th December.
It will kick off the countdown for the album, which was recorded in England and is set for release worldwide on 8th February.

She hasn't aged much at all. Black don't crack!
I like this too if this is going to be the album cover:
