Criterion newsletter - May 2009

It's almost definitely Roberto Rossellini's war trilogy - "Rome, Open City", "Paisan", and "Berlin, Year Zero" - which has been rumored to be coming for quite a while.

Great news - the Image DVD of "Rome, Open City" that I watched was not particularly good quality.

Aww, bunnies! Look at that little one with the paw sticking out, and...

...I mean, Rossellini's trilogy. Awesome.

Yay, my copy of "Germany Year Zero" only includes the Italian-dubbed audio, which makes for a bizarre viewing experience. Here's hoping this really is the trilogy and that it's done right. I have no idea what the bunnies and chickens are about.

if there was a crate with a chastity belt, a nun's habit and a dildo it might be Pasolini's Trilogy of Life

That Image disc of Rome, Open City is from the Dark Ages. Great news - hopefully these will be packed with extras.

Good news... been waiting for the primo Rossellinis forever, and missed out on the OOP Open City. After recently picking up Il General Delle Rovere, I was wondering about these.

Those incompetent chickens! There is a bunny missing from the second basket.

ps. I hope Voyage to Italy will be among future Rossellini releases.
