General Costco Home Theater Equipment Thread
This thread is for Home Entertainment available at Costco.
Televisions,Blu-ray players,DVD players and Home Audio etc.
And almost anything electronic.
I been finding some good deals lately at Costco .And I want to share them with everyone on DVDTalk.com.
So post your general deals and coupon specials that you would like to share.
Also post your thoughts on the items posted(good or bad)
I'll add more to the post latter.
1st-Denon AVR 589 AV receiver from Denon in Home Audio 5.1 $170
Location Albany,Oregon 4/08/09
First time I ever seen a A/V receiver at Costco. Not a 7.1,but I'm thinking about getting it for my bedroom set-up. I have some Onkyo speakers that I bought at a pawn shop that would go nice with this receiver.

Re: General Costco Home Theater Equipment Thread
Well, they have different selection in different stores. They always have in-a-box systems, it seems. I think there were about 4 different ones today. I've seen Harman Kardon receivers a couple times, not recently.
And Shamwow!!

I certainly applaud your initiative, but the thing about Costco is they change so often. I'm afraid by the time you post something, they will have moved on to something else.
As an example, my dad is getting a new TV and wants a surround set up. Yea, he wants Costco. I found the TV and the HTiB (a nice little Onkyo set up). But the time my dad went a couple weeks later, they had neither item.

Maybe if this thread gets going the mods will move it to the store forum.
Not sure if it even will be used much.I might try to post separate deals as they come along,as they dont last very long.
Also I went ahead and bought the Denon AVR 589 AV receiver from Denon in Home Audio 5.1 from Costco.
My first Receiver or HTIB,so give me a week or 2 to try it out.
thats after I get it set and hooked up right.
The Video and mono audio works ,but I still trying to get digital audio to work.
Also I waiting for one of their Pannasonic 1080p's to go on special(42".46" or 50")

Re: General Costco Home Theater Equipment Thread
Joey,
I see you have Blu-rays in your collection. Why buy a new receiver that can't handle the HD Audio?
If your player can decode HD audio, you can get a Yamaha RX-v463 (which handles HD Audio over HDMI) for $248.Yamaha at buy.com

I have a LG-Bh200 blu-ray player.I will check latter,bit I'm almost sure it will decode HD audio. And I also have 2 HD-DVD players A Toshiba A20(bought used) and A Venturer.
I also plan on buying another blu-ray player down the road.I have to two different room set-ups for my Tv's.
I'll also look into the Yamaha,I have it on list of receivers I was thinking of getting.
thanks for sugestion too.
As for Denon AVR 589
This is my first receiver and been kind of busy.
So I have it set up,but I havn't got it to play over the opt cable yet.
I'll read the manaul sometime this week.
Also I'm returnig my Vizio VS42OL 1A 40" LCD($600) 1080p.
Nothing wrong with it,but my 2 year old + Vizio 50" 720p has a better picture. And there are some other reason that I will add latter.
So I'm thinking of spending a little bit more and getting either A Panasonic 42" Xl or Sl or is it X1 and S1?
I'll post more latter.

I think he is saying the Yamaha cannot process lossless but can accept the audio so if your player can process lossless you can get it that way.
