for the most part, .srt subtitles on divx files seem to work most of the time, but .sub don't want to work.

is there any way to assure compatibility with .srt subtitles? (i had one film hardly display the .srt subs, and when it did they were jumbled up and showed the times they were supposed to display)

is there any way to make .sub subtitles even work?

What burn program are you using? Have you tried ConvertXtoDVD? That brings in nearly every subtitle file.
