Just curious...you mean to tell me COD4 & GTAIV haven't reached this status yet or is the solely just a money thing?
I mainly ask this due to the amount of used copied of games you can get for cheap prices elsewhere. Just wondering why more games aren't offered at the platinum hits price.

I'd say because the games are still selling well that an official price drop isn't worth doing.

Probably the same reason we don't see more "sales" like in the $10-$15 off range.

When sales slow down enough on a game, and a combination of things happen with the main thing being it sold over 400,000 copies (debatable) you will see Platinum status. Call of Duty Modern might do this after Call of Duty Modern 2 comes out.

They'll do it when they stop selling well. There is no automatic status change...it's just when they feel like it.

Exactly. During my time at EB Games, people who complain all the time over how Halo was still selling for full price even though it was the best selling game on XBOX. The answer is simple: If it's still selling well at $50, why drop the price?

Well, GTA IV recently did drop to $40 new. CoD 4 is a bit puzzling though. I'd figure it be at least $50 by now, since they would obviously want to factor $10 more to the price due to all new version having the DLC built in.
On the other hand, you have Mass Effect with the DLC built in now for $20 new everywhere.
