Just got a new tv - picking up new channels - but not with the dvd recorder

I got a new HD tv and it's picking up new channels that I never got before. I have regular cable, but I'm getting a few movie channels. I tried to get the channels with my dvd recorder, but they only work with the tv on "tv". Is there anyway I can get it so it picks up the channels on my dvd recorder? I use hdmi.

It might be helpful to describe how is everything connected.

Are you saying that you are not subscribed to any movie channel, yet your new HDTV is finding some movie channels?

And you want to somehow make your DVD recorder find those movie channels?

If your TV has auxilliary output, maybe you can use that as a way to connect to the input of your recorder. But this will record the extra channels only if the TV is tuned to that channel.

Good answer. Probably not, so....no extra channels.
