Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Discussion thread

I played the demo last night on my PS3 and found it interesting although a little bit repetitive. Does anyone own the game? It seems a little pricey for me if they are going to so several installments of the series. Anyone knows if this going to be released later on as a complete game?

Had heard exactly zero about this but got the demo. For $20 it better be damn great.

There was some talk in the XBLA thread about it. It seems to be a love it / hate it (for the price) game.

I like it. Me and some friends made it cheaper on PSN Its a simple beat em up, which I still enjoy. Every game doesn't have to reinvent the wheel. I just wish it had online co-op

The whole game is exactly like the demo. You get more 'special combo' attacks to use, but it is just nonstop repetitive fighting throughout, with only 1 boss battle. It's fun, but it's not $20 worth of fun. The graphic novel inspired cut scenes are great, but like I said, there is very little bang for your buck. I've played it through 1.5 times and have felt no need to finish this second run through, it just gets a bit tedious. If this were half the price, I'd easily tell you to buy it, but for $20 it's a rip off.

I really enjoyed the demo, but can't bring myself to spend 1600 of my precious Microsoft points on the full version. I've certainly been tempted, but I've managed to resist the urge so far, based on concerns over the short length and the repetition.

Isn't it episodic too? Hopefully the next chapter(s) won't cost as much, nor be as big of a download. Maybe they'll eventually package them all together at a discounted rate.

Where did you hear it was episodic? I thought it was one and done.

http://www.watchmenvideogame.com/?ct=us - Click "The Game" and you can see "Part 1" and "Part 2" listed there.

I am in the vast minority, but it was worth $20 to me. I don't expect the world for that price and it has been fun.

Nope, this way they can cash in on the theatrical hype and the DVD hype. It's genius.

I bought Farcry 2 and Tomb Raider Underworld for $15 new, far better value/deal than these licensed ripoffs.

I agree. The graphics rival standalone 360 games. The beat 'em up style is good enough for me. Though I don't think you can do co-op online... that kinda sucks.

That was my major complaint, I was looking forward to some on-line co-op. I've gotten better games for $20 also, but Watchmen was worth $20 for me. I'm not a penny counter or insane bargain hunter though, for $20 I'll take a chance on something that looks fun. Not to mention I have a huge stack of 1600 point cards I got for $5 each back during the Target cheap points fiasco.

I'm just pissed that this seems to have co-opted the Watchmen game where you play as the Comedian and kill Woodward and Bernstein.

Blu-ray.com is reporting that this game will be released individually in a disk and also as part of a collector's set with the Blu-ray release of the film.

SRP is 49.99, which sounds good compared to the BD's 35.99, but not if you factor in BD discounts. and the 360 game is only 29.99.

Re: Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Discussion thread

Im finally playing this after owning it for awhile. Got the PS3 movie/game version for about $15 and I think its great. Straight forward and simple but I think it has beautiful graphics. Real bright and vivid colors. This is mainly because its being upscaled to 1080i as opposed to most of my games that are downsclaed to 480p
