The Adjustment Bureau (Nolfi, 2010): Matt Damon in Philip K. Dick adaptation
From Variety:
While Universal Pictures waits for the next installment in the "Bourne" franchise, the studio has stepped up to secure Matt Damon's next film.
Universal is finalizing a deal with Media Rights Capital for "The Adjustment Bureau," a contemporary love story with sci-fi overtones that was written and will be directed by George Nolfi. The material is loosely based on a Philip K. Dick story.
Nolfi will produce with Chris Moore, Michael Hackett and Bill Carraro. Production begins in September.
Nolfi, who scripted "The Bourne Ultimatum," is also penning the next Jason Bourne vehicle for Damon and director Paul Greengrass.
In "The Adjustment Bureau," Damon will play a charismatic congressman who seems destined for national political stardom. He meets a beautiful ballet dancer, only to find strange circumstances keeping their sparks from catching fire.

Looks pretty good but a tad too "romantic" for my tastes. Hopefully it isn't a cheese-fest in that department.

Looks good so far. The whole idea of people making sure "everything goes according to plan" looks really interesting, but the love story looks pretty boring.
Edit: Loving the "Sunshine" music.

Not a fan of the title (I laughed when it came up at the end of the trailer) and there are certain things that could easily go into camp/cheese, but it definitely looks like an entertaining movie.
Considering how bad a lot of well advertised movies have been this year, I don't see why they think pushing it back would help anything, though I guess it may be easier to eat a flop in 2011 - with the sting of Wolfman and Green Zone long gone.

Despite a high-profile cast and the allure of Philip K Dick source material, there have been steady rumors that George Nolfi’s movie isn’t that great, and the multiple release date changes don’t inspire a great deal of confidence.

I got a Dark City vibe from the trailer, so I wonder if the rumors about it "not being that great" are in fact a result of people not knowing what to make of the movie. That movie didn't set the critical world as a whole on fire and was a pretty big box office flop, however it's finally found a strong following on DVD/Blu-Ray

looks... meh.
i think Matt Damon has this tendency to ruin most things for me. except for True Grit.

I honestly don't have any favor or disfavor w/ him. I like most of his films from pretty much most of what he's done from Bourne Identity onward, the ones before don't suit me in terms of personal preference.
