Law & Order: UK — Series 1 Discussion

Law & Order: UK just started this week (on ITV). For the first series, they recycle stories from the original Law & Order series.

I saw the first episode and it's pretty good. It has all the regular Law & Order elements: black and white intertitles, the dum-dum cash register sound, the same procedural format. But it also has wigs!

Anyone else hear about this or see it?

I'd love to see this to get the British spin on criminal procedure and if they have a British wise-cracking equivalent of Lennie Briscoe.

BBC America definitely needs to import this.

And they need Munch to cross-over.

They've already shown an ombudsman.

Re: Law & Order: UK — Series 1 Discussion

I almost started the same discussion. I was quite suprised how well done it was. It had the raw/gritty feeling of the early seasons. It's going to take a while to get used to the HUGE differences in our laws. The frist episode is based on "Cradle To Grave" (218).

Sadly it felt more "like" Law & Order than some of the recent Law & Order episodes (crossovers included). You learned almost nothing about the main characters, the whole episode focused on the LAW and the ORDER!!!....like Law & Order should. Criminal Intent could take a big lesson from how rigid Law & Order UK followed the original format. Fingers crossed the new season of CI returns to the glory it once was.

Anyways, L&O UK was great!

I have to admit that I'm watching this as a neat way to learn about some of the basic differences in US/UK crime and procedures.

Sucks that you can't watch it on ITV.com if you aren't in the UK.

Since there's powdered wigs, I'm there (that was going to be my first question but The Bus already pointed that out).

Saw it. It was okay. I really want to see some procedural wrangling to see how the Brits do it without a Constitution.
