Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

For some reason, despite the really stupid name, something appeals to me about the Dimension Extreme line of DVDs. I'm wary picking them up, because it seems to be half imports/half the Weinsteins just cleaning house, but I was a big fan of Inside and Teeth was alright.

A couple of new ones have been announced today:
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/dante-012.html
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...in-3-days.html

Also, I'm surprised this one isn't part of the line:
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/martyrs.html

I'm really looking forward to Dante.01.

If anyone can help me with the complete list, feel free.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Here's some others:

Hell Ride
Diary of the Dead (Romero)
The Killing Gene
Eden Lake
Steel Trap
Buried Alive
Dirty Sanchez (very weird addition)
Triloquist
Welcome to the Jungle
Black Sheep
Wizard of Gore
Rogue
Storm Warning
Nightmare Detective

The ones I've seen:
13 - great idea and decent movie, but I remember getting bored with it
D.O.A. - watched about 20 minutes, another horrible video game adaptation
Teeth - decent, funnier just to talk about the plot rather than watch movie itself
Diary of the Dead - Romero's latest zombie flick, absolutely hated it
Black Sheep - a new zealand horror/comedy about zombie sheep, I was on a 24hr bus ride with some really loud Israeli's so only caught parts of it
Dirty Sanchez - in no way a horror film, so this is the strangest addition. Basically they are the UK's Jackass but without the humor and 100x the stupidity...I met these guys when they were filming part of the movie on the island I was living on at the time. Retarded guys who wouldn't have gotten any attention had they not had camera's with them. I think they still owe my buddy $200 in a bar tab.
Inside - one of the best horror flicks I've seen recently (along with [Rec] and Let the Right One In)

I'm wanting to see both Nightmare Detective and Eden Lake, I've heard good things about both.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Just watched The Zombie Diaries the other day and thought it was very good, and I usually can't stand british movies.
Enjoyed Diary of the Dead very much also.
Been a while since I saw it but I have D.O.A as well and I remember it being ok for what it was. There's a really hot broad in it too from what I remember.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Storm Warning (2007) [Unrated] | (02/05/08) - Decent torture horror movie, Australia is doing good horror these days,

13: Game of Death aka 13 Game Sayawng (2006) [Unrated] | (03/18/08)- Alright, but could have been tighter,
Inside aka À L'intérieur (2007) [Unrated] | (04/15/08) - Best horror movie of 08

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead (2007) | (05/20/08) BD - Almost as bad as the Day of the Dead renake

Rogue (2007) [Unrated] | (08/05/08) - Decent as far as animal attack movies go

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Eden Lake - It was OK but it was too similar to a few other films I saw at the same time so it wasn't anything special. I'm tired of the "scary teenager" horror films.

Pulse 2 and 3 - Any film by Joel Soisson needs to be automatically burned. Pulse 2 features John Gulager in his underwear. 'nuff said.

Hell Ride - Simply awful. Larry Bishop spends the entire movie proving so hard he could still get with girls I thought he was going to pop a blood vessel.

Feast 2 - Good fun. Eagerly awaiting the third.

Teeth - If you've seen Sexual Parasite: Killer Pussy it sucked, if you haven't I guess it's pretty good. The characters were complete cliches, though.

Diary of the Dead - I enjoyed it even though alot of other people didn't.

Night of the Living Dead - Their release is the best the film has looked (in non-BD) and has a terrific documentary.

Rogue - It's good.. as far as Killer Croc movies go.

The Wizard of Gore - Terrible. I like Crispin Glover but when the best acting in the film is by the Suicide Girls... something wrong happened.. and what the fuck was up with his codpiece? Was he really trying that hard to impress everybody?

Mother of Tears - Enjoyable Argento film.

Dirty Sanchez - Uhhhh.. next.

D.O.A. - Dumb enjoyable fun. Worth seeing because Cory Yuen is the shit plus Sarah Carter and Holly Valance are hot.

Broken - Boring.

Black Sheep - Zombie Sheep. Yeah, that was enough for me to purchase it sight unseen. Very well made.

Nightmare Detective - By far my least favorite Shinya Tsukamoto. Really did nothing for me.

Automaton Transfusion - Another pretty bad zombie flick that tries to give the viewer motion sickness.

Inside - My favorite of the films they released and gory as hell. Beatrice Dalle is the fucking shit here.

Triloquist and Mother of Tears are the ones I'm interested in right now. Is that Elisha Cuthbert in Triloquist?

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

I've seen and enjoyed Black Sheep, Buried Alive, Storm Warning, Rogue and Inside. Feast II had its moments. Hell Ride was fun in a really goofy way.

Triloquist was terrible. The Pulse sequels were both pretty bad. Broken, Teeth and Diary of the Dead all were decent but nothing I'd go out of my way to really suggest.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

You might want to compare dvd specs between the different regions before buying any of them. The special features are not always ported over from their foreign counterparts.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Very few of these have I enjoyed.
The only ones I would recommend would be

Inside
Diary of the Dead
Mother of Tears
Rogue
Black Sheep
and Feast 2

And don't get me started on how awful the ManEater series is.

Night of the Living Dead
Diary of the Dead
Mother of Tears
Rogue
Black Sheep

Stay FAR away from Automaton Transfusion, Pulse 2, and The Wizard of Gore.

Night of the Living Dead was not a Dimension Extreme release. It came in a red and black foil slipcover and does not have the Dimension Extreme logos anywhere on it.

Added Extreme Movie to the list. Worth noting that this is a sketch comedy movie, and not by or similar to Date Movie, Epic Movie, etc.

Re: Dimension Extreme: Releases, Recommendations, etc.

Just noticed that DVDAficionado has a listing for the week of April 28 called Martyrs.

Directed by Pascal Laugier and the distribution company is Dimension Extreme/Weinstein Company/Genius Products. They have a poster up for the pic.

I have the DVDactive article linked in the second post. I am surprised it's not Dimension Extreme, but it doesn't seem to be.

Might want to remove the BD next to Eden Lake from the list in the first post. The Blu-Ray was scrapped...never came out, those Weinstein bastards. Probably won't see a Martyrs BD, either.

No, it is not going to be under the Extreme label. It will be a Weinstein company release

Yes, it IS supposed to be under the Extreme label. Key word "supposed"..

Night of the Living Dead was not a Dimension Extreme release. It came in a red and black foil slipcover and does not have the Dimension Extreme logos anywhere on it.
...

who cares about the logos? It's on the Dimension Extreme website under films released. Case closed.
