Paramount releasing Dexter S2 and CSI S1 on Blu-ray in May

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: The First Season' to Blu-ray on May 12th. This highly popular television series, currently in its ninth season, has spawned numerous spin-offs and garnished a loyal fan base. Technical specs have yet to be announced, though early indication is that this release will receive a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Question is, will it be anamorphic unlike the DVD?

All features will once again be available only on BD-Live.

There is no such thing as an anamorphic Blu-ray Disc....

I believe you mean "will it be in 16:9 widescreen" (which is technically what "full screen" is for Blu-ray) or "windowboxed 4:3"....

I am looking forward to getting CSI: Season 1 but I wonder how expensive it will be. The dvds are expensive when they first come out. I won't spend $60, $80 or $100 on it. I will definately buy it at a lower price.

Probably $55 or so on Amazon since it would be 20+ episodes.

Re: Paramount releasing Dexter S2 and CSI S1 on Blu-ray in May

According to TV Shows On DVD, the official title of this is:

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
The First Season: Special Widescreen Edition

They have early artwork (looks like early DVD artwork but it'll obviously change a bit) and though the extras haven't all been revealed, what is confirmed is:

-1080p 1.78:1 widescreen
-7.1 surround sound audio (damn, gonna have to find room for two extra speakers...)
-Director's cut of the Pilot with audio commentary (it was directed by long-time executive producer/director Danny Cannon)

I have to say it again:

Hell yeah.

Re: Paramount releasing Dexter S2 and CSI S1 on Blu-ray in May

Dexter is a must...that show is great and has a lot of replay value (gots to get s1 too).

CSI...I got into the show a few seasons ago, but didn't want to buy the DVD...so I am in for that too.

Paramount is making up tons of ground on the Blu side of things. Good for them. Now if they would only stop cutting the music of some of their TV shows, I will be happy.

Amazon already has cover art for Season 3. Is that coming out same date as Season 2?

Same day or the week after Season Two. Not sure if Season 3 might get delayed (same with the DVD) though depending when Dexter comes back on Showtime. I can't remember when it typically airs (Always thought it was after Weeds though?)

Like Tales from the Darkside season 1. It just doesn't make sense that they cut or replaced a lot of the music.
