my beef is that their first album came out in 2006, and was somewhat successful, and their most recent album came out in aug of 2007, hense they shouldn't be consitered a new artist. (dont get me started on Maroon 5

I had heard about the USC band playing with Radiohead and first thought that it was going to sound forced but actually I liked it. Although, it was kinda weird to see Thom Yorke dancing around stage like that. I don't really remember him doing that much during concerts but then maybe thats because he's usually got a guitar on when he's on stage.

I wasn't worried. When Adele (who I think deserved it) got nominations for Song and Record of the Year, it seemed inevitable to me that she would get Best New Artist.

I only watched to opening to catch U2. WTF was up with Whitney Houston? Couldn't tell if she was going to go completely insane or just fall over and pass out.

I don't know who many of the nominees even are- but the performances have been surprisingly interesting to me. I couldn't take the 9 month pregnant woman and friends, Katie Perry, Carrie Underwood or the Jonas Brothers, but I think I watched the rest of the performances without resorting to the FFwd button.
I despise both Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, yet I enjoyed their collaboration. Coldplay is always enjoyable, and Neil Diamond made me smile, even if it felt incredibly out of place. I may download Kid Play's "Amen" and that would be the first time I've even considered listening to one of his songs any more than I have to.
I normally get through the Grammy's really quickly, as I'm not a hip hop or rap fan, and most years feel heavy on those performances. This year they kept me interested, despite my initial fears after the first 15 minutes or so.

Man...this show makes me glad that I don't listen to any of that crap, let alone know who most of them are. I literally only heard of the Coldplay song for the "Best Song" award...the other 3 were a complete mystery. I actually found myself routing for Coldplay...and that's just sad. Oh well, it served it's purpose...Blink is back together.

Judging by the few minutes I saw of the show through my dvr's ff, it appears as the bloated carcass of the major music industry is festering and decaying worse than ever.

Chris Brown and Rihanna were no shows to the Grammys as Brown was arrested for allegedly assaulting an unidentified woman (read Rihanna).

I watched it on ff this morning, but was that booing at the end when Robert Plant and Alison Krauss won album of the year?

Was it me or were there just two members of Radiohead present?
The band was an interesting idea but failed IMHO. That performance is all I saw - perfect timing because it's all I wanted to see. Blech - pop music.
