Best Gamecube games for the Wii?

I recently picked up a Gamecube controller to use with virtual console games (I like the grips better than the Wii Classic controller) and now as a bonus, I can play Gamecube stuff!
Though I never owned a GC so I have no idea what might be worth getting.

Zelda: Wind Walker seems an obvious first choice.

Any other ideas that I should consider?

A few that come to mind: Resident Evil remake, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, and Viewtiful Joe. I also liked Super Mario Sunshine, but I'm definitely in the minority there. Wind Waker is an awesome game for the most part, but the sailing stuff gets really old really fast (and there is a LOT of it).

Most of the above, plus the Lego Star Wars games if you haven't picked them up for Wii, and don't forget Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Killer7.

My favorites:

Metroid Prime
Eternal Darkness
Wind Waker
Mario Sunshine
Beyond Good and Evil (also on PS2)

I would say that the Wii Zelda and Mario are better than their GC counterparts...and Metroid Prime Corruption has better controls than the original (but not nearly as good a story).

If you like RPGs, Paper Mario TTYD is pretty good too.

I can't agree with Dogmatica enough... Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is by far one of the best games I have ever played. Aside from the usuak Nintendo titles that is a MUST buy.

Rogue Leader is still my favorite Star Wars game. If you like it, get Rebel Strike. Just be aware that Rebel Strike has some ground-based levels that aren't that great.

For a jrpg Tales of Smphonia is great. Also the new Wii followup is meant to be not half bad either.

Remember that Prime 1 and 2 are coming out later this year with Wii controls.

1. Beyond Good & Evil
2. Eternal Darkness
3. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
4. Metroid Prime (coming later with Wii controls)
5. Pikmin (coming later with Wii controls)

The Super Monkey Ball games are way better than the Wii counterpart. Wind Waker was good but short. Same for Luigi's Mansion.

Madden. No wait, that sucked on GC. Eternal Darkness was my favorite game on the cube. The Monkey Ball games saw a lot of party time.

Eternal Darkness.

Then for good measure go through it a couple more times for the other ending.

At this point, there isn't a US release date, AFAIK.

Not sure what type of games you like. But I like Tales of symphonia and skies of arcadia in terms of RPG's.

Animal crossing is still fun.

Good point. To get the complete ending to the game it needs to be finished 3 times. Using different elements. Like I said before, this game really gets you to want to keep on playing. I'm 34 and it has to be in my all time top 10.

Re: Best Gamecube games for the Wii?

Some good ideas here. Thanks everyone. I picked up Eternal Darkness today and so far so good.

As to the Metroid remake, the GC version is $6 used, I'd bet the remake comes out for $40, if not $50. I haven't played Prime 3 yet. Does it really make so much perfect use of the Wii controls that it'd be worth the price?

The New Play Control series of Wii rereleases are all set to arrive at $30 budget pricing. For games I never owned it's quite appropriate to me. I played Prime 3 first, because I missed the first two, and then borrowed my friends copy of Prime for cube to play. The control is so superior on the Wii, I hardly played at all after the first few levels. I'll be looking forward to the rereleases of it for sure, widescreen will also be a plus on these new versions.

As for the original topic, of games that aren't going to be rereleased, Mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, and FZero GX are all winners!

Starfox Adventures.

Excellent game, gameplay almost like Zelda. Andross the last boss was a pain but I beat him.

If it's the same as Metroid Prime 3, absolutely yes.

They'll be $30, assuming they come out here, and it will absolutely be worth it. MP3's controls were great.
