I'd really like to pick up The Devil's Backbone, but I don't see anything else I want.

Bunny Lake is Missing is an above average thriller, the flaws of which I can't go into deal on without spoiling the film. Five Easy Pieces, Fright Night, Hard Eight, Hardcore, The Last Detail, The Last Picture Show, To Die For and Triplets of Belleville are also recommended.

Re: Deep Discount has some decent BOGO

Be careful and make sure you check the DVD specs. Three of the four I wanted (Toy Soldiers, Fail-Safe, & White Water Summer) were either fullscreen or non-anamorphic, so I ended up not getting anything.

Re: Deep Discount has some decent BOGO

I spotted a dozen that I found interesting:

Bye Bye Birdie
Cactus Flower
Five Easy Pieces
For Pete's Sake
Hardcore
I'll Do Anything
Jason and the Argonauts
The Last Detail
Loose Cannons
Razor's Edge
Return of the Vampire
Tommy

A few you might be able to find at Big Lots for $2.50 this week, like Bloodhounds of Broadway, Good Day for a Hanging, The Net, Private Resort and Urban Legend.

I read in another forum that the currently available edition of Fright Night is a terrible transfer, and fans are begging for it to be remastered.

I'd never trust any descriptions at DD, they suck for that. Fail-Safe is anamorphic. I'd check other sites for that info. Apparently WWS is also WS anamorphic and FS.

I highly recommend Hardcore to any neo-noir/Schrader/George C. Scott fans who haven't seen it.

Also, The Fisher King still needs a special edition.

Re: Deep Discount has some decent BOGO

Thanks OP. I really had to scrape that list hard to find two that I wanted. Not being familiar with Return of the Vampire, I got a huge laugh out of the capsule description at DD:

"As the result of a bizarre accident, Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi) is resurrected by a Nazi bomb. Accompanied by his werewolf servant, the evil count scours the countryside in search of fresh victims."

They don't write them like that anymore.

Agree that Triplets of Belleville is a great blind buy.

Yeah, I never go by theirs alone. I checked Amazon, but it seemed kind of inconclusive to me since neither site actually uses the term "anamorphic." But it's listed that way at DVDCompare so I guess you're right.

I think I'll spring for Fail-Safe and Last Picture Show then.

Re: Deep Discount has some decent BOGO

^I use dvdempire sometimes too (they usually have back cover scans), I never rely on Amazon. But glad I changed your mind. 2 good B&W flicks in your future. I have both and they are indeed anamorphic. LPS is one of those that doesn't say it anywhere on the packaging, but it is. I have both, you're all set

I know, right? He's a total bitch. I suppose that makes him a haunted, tragic figure, but c'mon, man. You're a werewolf. Grow a backbone already.
