"American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

Just announced on TV Shows on DVD.com
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com

Apparently, the better of Seth MacFarlane's 2 (going on 3) animated shows will feature 13 episodes rather than the usual 18-19 eps--but with the same price as the previous 2 volume, (Grrrr...)

The episodes are (I'm guessing) are as follows:
  1. The Most Adequate Christmas Ever
  2. Tearjerker
  3. Oedipal Panties
  4. Widowmaker
  5. Red October Sky
  6. Office Spaceman
  7. Stanny Slickers 2: The Legend of Ollie's Gold
  8. Spring Break-Up
  9. 1600 Candles
  10. The One That Got Away
  11. One Little Word
  12. Choosey Wives Choose Smith
  13. Pulling Double Booty

Why they don't include "Escape From Pearl Bailey" and "Phantom of the Telethon", since they were out from the same cluster of episodes? Who knows?

Hopefully it will have the usual assortment of audio commentaries and deleted scenes (usually excised for content rather than quality).

Also, will it have the deleted scenes from the episodes they skipped on volume 3.

Cool, but I'll probably hold off a bit until it's sub $20.

glad to see the next Christmas episode make it to dvd. But its complete bullshit they start pulling the same shit they do on the Family Guy dvds by putting only 13 episodes on a three disc set. But I shouldn't really complain I will still buy it.

I agree 100%. Volumes 2 and 3 were good deals--relatively speaking, what with 18-19 episodes per set. But at the least the episodes are good--I got all the ones not on DVD on my iPod. (And before you ask--I just want them on DVD so I can watch them on TV and have the nifty AD! goodies!)

American Dad grew on me, but it never comes close to approaching Family Guy.

I think this past season it has been better, but it's been a grower, unlike family guy, which I loved from the start.

A little more info has emerged on volume 4, it looks like it will be 14 episodes.

Re: "American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

Did anyone pick it up this week? Why did Fox ditch the 3 slim cases in a cardboard box for a clear dvd case with all three discs in it. Cutting Costs? Kind of unfair for the consumer.
Plus it would have been nice to include the episode air dates on the packaging.

Re: "American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

What exactly is "unfair" about a packaging change like this? Is the primary purpose of buying this set not for the actual episodes it contains? Them charging the same price for this set, which has less episodes than past sets, is something I could consider being unfair. This, to me, seems more like something that would piss off anal collectors.

Re: "American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

I picked up a 2 pack of seasons 1 and 2 at Target last week for $19.99. I think this show has gotten infinitely better as it's gone on, but I couldn't pass it up for 10 bucks per season. I'll probably get this release when it inevitably goes on sale a few months from now.

Re: "American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

I am just mad they changed the packaging after its been done the same way for 3 previous sets. It doesn't have episodes airdates so I don't know if they are in order on the dvds. Except for "The Most Adequate Christmas Ever" on disc 3, which should have been on the volume 3 set.

I hear ya. I am still a bit irked about the way they packaged the most recent release of the Simpsons.

My biggest pet peeve ever is packaging change. Terribly annoying to me. I hope this doesnt mean the next Family Guy volume will be the same way.

Re: "American Dad!" volume 4 4/28/09

If you look at the packaging pictured in the announcement of the latest Family Guy set, the spine looks completely different from the format they've held to for all of the previous seasons. So I'm guessing that its probably going to be a plastic case this time around.

Count me in with those who hate packaging changes. Hate.
