monoprice.com

Get an HDMI 1.3 certified cable. If it is 15' or longer, go for the 24AWG. If shorter, get anything that is 1.3 certified, pick your price.

Re: HDMI cable?

Skys the limit when purchasing cables. The difference is profound to sensitive equipement that measure indetectible differences. Indetectible to yours, mine and everybodies eyes and ears.

The only people that "claim" to be able to tell the difference are those that bought into the hype and have much lighter wallets and PO'd spouses.

Re: HDMI cable?

If I didn't get Belkin cables for cheap/free I'd recommend monoprice too.
I have noticed that some cheaper HDMI cables tend to have a loose fit and slip out of the socket easier. Rather have something with a tight fit.

I was joking, of course. I sometimes forget that I'm not in Otter, where nothing I say is ever taken seriously.

I'm going to take this one step further and say that the difference is undetectable even with sensitive equipment. Which is why the marketers fall back on subjective reviews by people with "golden" ears and eyes and tout expensive materials that have no proven benefit.

None of you are talking about HDMI cables. Maybe you should create your own thread.

WOW! I'd never even heard of this site. Are these just as good and anything from Monoprice, assembly quality-wise?

And I just received a few from Monoprice. What's 1.3b compared to just 1.3?

Re: HDMI cable?

Thanks for this post. I was in the market for another cable, too, and just refuse to spend the $50-80 that Best Buy likes to charge for theirs.

I ordered one from monoprice last night. 1.3 certified, 2m cable for $12.85 shipped sounds pretty good to me.

Re: HDMI cable?

You guys pay pennies for HDMI cables in the US.

I bought a Panasonic cable, nothing special, and it cost me $50.

If you go to most normal B&M retailers here in the US, you WILL pay that much here too. Thankfully, you don't have to.

Yes spend a litttle extra and get A monoprice. For the price its hard to beat them.I mean their 6' cables are under $15 or less.

I also bought a few cheaper ones(less then $5) from Amazon. One works ok,the other HDMI cable has a bad connection, picture would cut out once in awhile until I replace it with a the mono I bought.

Re: HDMI cable?

If you are going in wall or attic, Monoprice has some CL2 rated cables. I got one for the run to my pj.

I "swear" I was having some shielding problems with the component cable I was using. Since this pj had HDMI, I got a CL2 (the cable goes in the attic right next to our furnace) rated cable form monoprice and all my problems went away.

That is not true. There are distinct differences between many types of cables. And with HDMI, it happens to be very measurable and sometimes clearly visible onscreen.

I did what you suggested and found this nice, balance article saying there is a difference. And btw...Monster is not the most expensive cable available.

And regardless of the article...I never, EVER go against Spiky....LOL

Re: HDMI cable?

so what's the difference beteen:

28AWG HDMI 1.3a Male to Male Cables

and

28AWG HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Male to Male Cables?

Both are at Monoprice; I was hoping to get shorter cables, but those are all not in the Category 2 section. Do I want Category 2? (will be hooking up new HDTV to Blu-Ray, DVD Player and probably receiver)
