Blind Woman's Curse - release by Discotek... bad quality?

I just finished watching this and I was really surprised that in quite a few scenes the picture became very pixelated. I double-checked the review on dvdtalk but there was no mention of any such problem, so I am wondering if something is wrong on my side... i tried the dvd in two different players on teh same tv, and then on my computer as well.. same problem.

Has anybody else had this issue? I really hope none of my equipment is dying or that my settings are not good T_T

EDIT: the dvd players are a philips 5982 set to upscale to 1080p and a toshiba A3 set for 1080i.. TV is a philips 42pfl7432 (pretty sure).

i thought the pic quality was bad too. i was also upscaling it. some people spot these things, others don't. it actually seems quite common with upscaling, that you can see boxes, sometimes a white line along the top / bottom edges, and paleness to the blacks / lack of overall detail.
