The Bridge on the River Kwai: Collector's Edition
I ran across this listing at Amazon for a new 2-Disc Collector's Edition of The Bridge on the River Kwai:
http://www.amazon.com/Bridge-River-Kwai-Two-Disc-Collectors/dp/B0016K40KO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1230966252&sr=1-2
Does anyone know, is this just a repackaging of the old Limited Edition set from 2000?

It does seem to be a re-packaging. I went to Barnes and Noble and they have both listed. Looked at the info for both and appears same including additional features. Transfer-wise I did not see anything to indicate if the same or different.

I don't have this version, but according to this review it is based on the Superbit edition.

I do have the latest Guns of Navarone, and it is much improved from the previous edition (though still not stellar)

Re: The Bridge on the River Kwai: Collector's Edition
If I only care about the video/audio quality, and not the extras, should I get:
The Japanese DTS Superbit version, the United Kingdom PAL Superbit version, or the new Collector's Edition NTSC Region 1 version?

Re: The Bridge on the River Kwai: Collector's Edition
A couple of years back Columbia re-released BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, GUNS OF NAVARONE, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and THE CAINE MUTINY all repackaged. Only CAINE and GUNS received any sort of overhall with new transfers and additional extras. The other two are just straight repackages of the previous special editions.
