Blu-ray Player & divx/xvid

I have been trying to find a Blu-ray player that also plays divx/vxid files, is there one out there?

The Panasonic DMP-BD35. The BD55 probably does, too.

That sounds cryptic. Have there been reports of problems?

No. But I've never tested, so...

The Memorex BD player does Divx. It's half the price or less of the PS3 or Panasonic BD55.

Should be a flood of Blu-ray HW products at CES next week. Although, when they get released, who knows. The Oppo player will definitely be good with Divx -- but likely cost $500.

The e-mail I got recently from Oppo said $499 to $599, so let's hope it's closer to the lower number.

Thanks for the input. Before I made the post I was reading about players at BestBuy.com and found very little info. After the post I read about players at CircuitCity.com and they had lots of info about what current blue-ray players play divx.

I should have mentioned that mkv is important.

I currently use a modded xbox w/ xbox media center to watch divx/xvid/mkv.

I wanted to get a blue-ray player and switch to a device that can handle 720p mkv because my xbox can't handle it. I would also want to get the "final" blu-ray standard.

Seems like I may have to wait a little longer

There are quick programs that convert mkv to a vob container that the ps3 will handle. Check out mkv2vob for reference.
