TV on DVD - In Which Season Did A TV Series Go To Widescreen (1.78:1) Format?

One tough thing to find out is when did a particular TV show switch from 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9 aspect ratio (as well as which shows never switched), particularly on the DVD (etc.) releases.

Some examples:

The X-Files - Season 5

E.R. - Season 1 (surprising, given that it was back in 1994-1995)

Seinfeld - never changed, all seasons are in 4:3 ratio

Millennium - Season 2

So I figured a thread to list when these aspect ratio changed occurred (if at all) would be worthwhile.

EDIT: To correct The X-Files to Season 5 being the first 1.78:1 season.

However, I'm sure enjoying the HD broadcasts of various episodes from all seasons including as early as The Stakeout (episode #2). Haven't seen the Pilot yet. I would bet all my current dvd's that 1.78:1 HD sets will show up on BD. Check the credits on those early ones. It says: Filmed in Panavision.

Oh yeah, House - Season 1 being non-anamorphic widescreen on DVD really bugs me. Stuff like that should not have been still happening when this DVD set was released in 2005.

You're right - I made a mistake on that one. I'll correct it.
