FYE 50% Off -- Out of Business in Springfield, IL

My wife drug me to the mall today ... to my surprise the FYE had "Everything must go, 50% off of everything" signs in the windows.

I went in to see what I could find (figuring 50% off there list prices might provide something good -- the place was such a madhouse that I walked right back out (the checkout line wrapped around the back of the store).

FYE / Suncoast 50% off

The Suncoast at Brea, CA must be going out of business as well. I walked in today and everything is 50% off. Unfortunately, most of the store was pretty much picked over. This really isn't that great of a sale, but I had nearly $200 in gift cards/store credits that I was looking to blow during Christmas, and that made it an excellent deal for me...

Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray) 39.99-20.00 [$19.99]
Hancock (Blu-ray) 38.99-19.50 [$19.49]
Hellboy 2 Gift set (Blu-ray) 69.99-30.00 [$34.99]
Warriors of Heaven and Earth (Blu-ray) 28.99-14.50 [$14.49]
Dog Day Afternoon (Blu-ray) 29.99-15.00 [$14.99]
The Sopranos - Season 6, Part I (Blu-ray) 79.99-40.00 [$39.99]
The Sopranos - Season 6, Part II (Blu-ray) 79.99-40.00 [$39.99]

Grand total $198.18

Just wanted to point out that the FYE at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown, MA also has everything at 50% off. Prices aren't that amazing for new DVDs even with the 50% off, but there are deals to be had if you scour through the racks of used discs.

Picked up:
Tropical Malady (Used) $3.99
Rock Hudson-Doris Day Romance Collection (Used) $7.99

That's what happens when you play nothing but shitty music in your store.

The FYE at the Somerset Collection mall in Troy, MI is also going out of business and is 50% off everything in store. I didn't buy anything as they seemed to have pulled all of their Blu-rays off the shelf.

Another one is Coconuts in South Burlington, VT.... The one I used to manage, apparently I got out just in time. TWEC doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to closing these stores, this particular store is a profit powerhouse with used, and outdoes many of the mall competition on the bottom line.

Things will be going to 75% off next, each store will have a different timeline I am sure.

Anyone come across any stores closing in Long Island NY?

Will the remaining FYE's even make it through 2009?

I was in Great Lakes Crossing on Saturday and didn't see any signage to indicate they were closing shop. Bummer, too. I was kinda looking forward to a deal or five.

found one in Cary, NC. Pretty cleanly picked, but I still left with an $80 charge on a big ol' gift card.

I went to Fairfield U back in the late 90's and received a $100 gift card after winning a 3vs3 basketball tourney. Things there were so overpriced that I only left with 5 items and had to put some cash to cover the entire purchase.

The guys at Greenville told me that the store in Cary was also closing but that it was cleaned up the 24th.

Fair set of stuff still there. I called before I went out, the girl who answered said "through Saturday."

It was, as I say, pretty cleaned out though.

I'm going to be near Cary on Thursday. Do you know the address of the FYE store there? The website doesn't show it anymore.
