We could probably collect all these HBO titles on sale at Amazon into one thread. It seems that Amazon is simply copying Best Buy's recent "Half Off HBO" sale. Any idea when the BB sale ends? It's very likely Amazon's prices will go back up at the same time.

selling them would probably get you enough cash to get the set.

The BB newspaper flier says Dec. 27th (Sat.) which is typical.

Sigh. Wish we had a Costco. Looked for the set at their online site...no go.

$175 at Amazon is good, and if I had sold off my sets for $30-45 each early this year, I would bite. Currently I could probably only get between $25-$30 each, which hardly makes a repurchase worth the effort.

Are the extras worth 'trading up'? Does the new packaging tend to scratch the discs?

Inquiring minds want to know (I've read the 'official' reviews...guess I should go to the other forum to see what customers are saying).

I just wish someone would have a decent sale price for Season 4 and 5. I got the first three sets at around $20 each used, as well as brand new HD-DVD's for Season 6. Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 sets. I'm pretty sure those are great deals for the sets but they wont be if I can't complete my collection in an affordable manner.

Happy Holidays Guys! Well, I bought seasons 1, 2 , 3, And 5 - BF 2007 At Walmart For $20.00 A Piece. They were out of season 4. I still have 1, 2, 3, and 5 - all brand new & sealed. I still want to get season 4 and both parts of season 6 of course, so would it be a wiser choice to just sell the sets on EBAY I have and try to get it at Costco for $139.00? I mean even Amazon or BB for the $175 wouldn't be bad. What do you guys think?????
Thanks!

I got really lucky. My boss gave me $100.00 American Express GC so I went to costco and picked up the set for $40.00 plus tax! Needless to say I was very pleased with my Christmas bonus this year! Too bad I paid $135.00 for The Wire set on amazon before it came down in price... oh well win some , lose some but I am still happy with The Wire set and The West Wing Set I got on black friday on Amazon for $65.00
Happy holidays Y'all

This arrived today. I checked all of the discs for scratches, and all appeared absolutely spotless. Beautiful set, and a hell of a bargain. Here's hoping The Wire arrives similarly unblemished.

I picked up seasons 1-3 at Walmart on BF in 2007 for $20 each. I should have gone ahead and picked up 4 and 5 for $30 each as part of that sale. Considering what I have alread paid I can wait until I can pick up the rest on the cheap as $175 seems a little pricey for the whole set. I did attempt to get season 6, pt.1 & 2 HD DVD from Borders for cheap. I'll never place another order with Borders.

I got the set from Costco and had to return it for badly scratched discs. The second set has a few discs that are slightly scuffed, but shouldn't affect playback. It's a really handsome set!
