Digital Copy Used Disc...Now What?

Once the Digital copy has been redeem what do you do with the disc?

My understanding is that once you use the code and get the movie on your computer the disc is useless is that correct?

Essentially it's a coaster for your pepsi. Unless in some cases (i.e. TDK) where there are also special features on the disc. Then it's still [somewhat] useful.

The coaster and the tree ornament idea is actually good.

Does anyone actually still keep the disc inside the dvd or blu-ray case?

I throw the disc away. Says "3-Disc Special Edition" on the case and only 2 discs inside. Great.

My church collects old CD/DVDs to recycle. You can look into that.

My question is, what happens when these '3' disc sets with one disc being the digital copy are sold to used DVD places. Are they going to require the third disc, even though it's worthless?

I doubt most will even care.

I always used to throw these out along with the instruction sheet. The first one I actually downloaded was The Dark Knight (only because its the IMAX version).

But now I'm wondering if any other digital copies are "alternate cuts." Is anyone aware of anything like that? Also, which has the better picture quality usually, the DVD or the digital copy?

Why are people throwing them away? I consider digital copies to be as worthless as the next guy but is keeping it inside the case THAT much of a burden?

I admit I'm slightly obsessive compulsive/anal about my DVDs but having a 3 disc set with only 2 discs or having a DVD with an empty slot sitting on my shelf would slowly drive me crazy.

Well, some of the digital copy discs come just in a paper sleeve, loose inside the case (f.ex. 3-disc of Hellboy II and The Incredible Hulk). I'd rather NOT have that crap sliding around in there.

Digital copy is a worthless option to me. If I can find out for sure that the second disc of a 2 disc set is just a digital copy disc, then I buy the single disc version. Unfortunately soemtimes they do throw other special features on the disc with the worthless digital copy. Regardless, the number of discs that come tih a dvd when I buy it is the number of discs that stay ont eh shelf. I dont throw any away.

That's exactly why I don't throw it away, because it drives me nuts when it says 3 disc special edition and there are only 2 discs inside! I wish it just said 2 disc special edition and had a sticker on it that says Includes Bonus Digital Copy or something like that!

Has anyone found a disc that has special features along with the digital copy?

I have no use for digital copy, so all of mine remain unused. Is there a market for these?

I wish they didn't say 3 disc edition when it's a digital copy because it makes the package sound so much more appealing than it actually is.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army has special features on the same disc as the digital copy (on the blu ray version as least - the DVD version might be different).

I've also noticed that on Blu Rays, some are now advertising 2 BD + Digital Copy as "2 DVD" sets, not including the 3rd disc (or 2nd, on 1BD + Digital Copy) sets.

I imagine that one of the reasons they're doing this is to make a new disc purchase more attractive, since there's a good chance that you won't get the DC if you buy it used.

The New World has an alternate cut from both releases.
