Best LCD for $1000, help me find one

Im looking to get a new LCD for the House. I currently have a 40" Sony LCD 40V2500 in the basement and am happy with it.

I have to buy the TV from BestBuy, so have to conform to their prices (I have a bunch of rewards GC's)

I have been eyeing the Sony 40" 40S4100 for $999.00. For $1000 max is there anything bigger or better I can get for the Money. I appreciate any help!

Jon

why just lcd? I (and many here) prefer plasma. Panasonic, specifically (or Pioneer). look for a sale and jump on it. if you can wait until after the new models are announced (lighter, use less energy) then the price on the current sets will drop. or, perhaps, wait until after christmas to get one. still, just my recommendation.
720p

Thanks...I used the term LCD too loosly, thanks for the advice, probably will get a 1080p, even though you probably cant tell the difference at that size...i guess just a mental thing...why are plasmas generally cheaper than LCD?

I'm not sure why the prices have dropped so much on plasmas. The technology has greatly improved (no burn in, deeper blacks, higher contrast...etc.)

whichever model you get, go to avsforum.com and look up the recommended display settings since the default ones are way off. there will also probably be some explanation regarding plasma/lcd as well.

if best buy price matches....which I've heard they occasionally do, you can print out this ad and see if they match it. hell of a price for a 1080p set.
