True Blood: Season One - May 12th, 2009

The three-disc collector’s edition of Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger will include HBO Home Entertainment’s first digital copy when it is released Jan. 20.

The special features 90 minutes of footage from Rock’s international shows in New York, the United Kingdom and South Africa. Also included in the set are the full-length performances at all three locations, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

“That will mark our first time with digital copy, and I think its potential is great,” said HBO Home Entertainment president Henry McGee.

Rock, who made his debut on “Saturday Night Live” in 1989, has won three Emmy Awards and has now done five solo stand-up performances for HBO.

McGee also said that “True Blood,” the Golden Globe-nominated series coming back for a second season, will see both DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases in the spring
Been sitting on this news for a bit and a bit shocked to see it has not yet been formally announced...but this as best as I could get! I missed this on HBO but will happily buy the BD...as long as HBO does not rape us!

LOVE this show and it looks great on broadcast HD so I'm sure the Blu-rays will be great. Can't wait.

Great show. Definite pick up for me, during a sale. I ain't spendin' no $416 dollars on a 12-episode season.

Oh, and a big to both Lizzy Caplan and Anna Paquin for finally showing boob!

I really hope HBO (Warner) prices this in the realm of reality. The $120 MSRP for Sopranos Part I/II on BD/HD was complete BS for a season with a dozen episodes.

This would be great news... maybe it will get the ball rolling on their other shows too!

I really tried to get into this show, but never could, although I love the initial premise. However, I may have to rent it just for the nudity.

I liked the show a lot, but I'm not sure I'm hankering to re-watch it again any time soon. Dunno.

I took the online HBO survey that came with Band of Brothers, and it asked which HBO shows you'd like to see on Blu-ray. In addition to The Sopranos (complete series, of course) and Deadwood, I also voted for True Blood. Maybe a lot of other people voted for it too.

Man I really want to see this - Six Feet Under (also created by Alan Ball) is one of the best series ever, but I'm not sure if I want to pay that much again (back in the day Six Feet Under was like 60 bucks a season) for a DVD or a BD.

Anna Paquin and Lizzy Caplan's TITS in pausable HD anytime I feel like it FTW.

Always thought that Caplan was way hot, didn't know she gets nude in this.

Haven't seen the show, but this will be a definite blind buy for me.

I may blind buy this if it is reasonably inexpensive. Otherwise, I'll be waiting a few years for the inevitable drop in pricing.

This is HBO so no way its affordable. My wife really liked the show and watched the whole season, but I missed most of it. My rent this when it is released.

This is one I'll wait for the entire series to be over before I buy the set.

Like I said earlier though, it's a good sign that HBO might get going on the BD front again. Now give us Entourage, ROME, and the rest of the Sopranos.

And how many years from now will that be? The show did pretty well in its first season, and there are already 8 novels in the series to draw from.

Considering the lack of hits right now on HBO besides this, it may be years before the series ends. Good luck waiting guys! I won't.

And more time for Anna Paquin to give us some full-frontal action!

So? It's not like I'm going to watch the old seasons while it's still on, and I'd rather either save a bunch of money on individual seasons, or get a complete box set.

I like the show, but it's not a big priority on my list.

Hey, only you can decide what you want to buy. It just sounded very odd to hear someone express interest in owning the show but then say they'd wait for a complete series set, not knowing how many years the show will run for. If HBO had announced that True Blood was designed as a 2 or 3 season show, that's one thing. But for all we know, it could run for 6 or 8 more years, and the eventual Blu-ray set (assuming Blu-ray is still around at that time) could cost several hundred dollars at HBO's usual pricing.

I do have interest in owning it, and only on Blu-ray. Previous to the statement in the first post there had been no indication it was coming out on anything but DVD, so this made me happy.

I've been waiting for some indication that HBO plans on rolling out more BDs. There are other shows that are higher on my list though (ROME the complete series for one - glad I waited).

As to BD still being around: well then waiting would only benefit someone like me who has been burned before by buying DVDs of shows that should be HD.

The more TV on BD the better. To me DVD is dead.
