---------------------------------------------------

It's been a tough time for this band the past year, with the loss of one of their founding members, LeRoi Moore, but things seem to be looking up. I am a huge fan of this band, and have been for about 13 years now. They've taken their time with this one, and it should be known that the work LeRoi Moore did in the studio, prior to his passing, is still going to be worked in.

Anyway, thought any fans of DMB would like to know about this, if you havent heard already.

I'll be at one of the Vegas shows. Trying to decide if it's worth joining Wherehouse to get early tix...

I kind of hated the last studio album. I hope this one is a lot better. It will be weird having no LeRoi Moore. I wonder if it'll affect the sound or the overall tone of the new album.

I've been a Warehouse member since day one, literally, and its given me some fantastic seats... I'd say give it a shot.

As far as the last album, you arent alone... Many have a distaste for it, but the band seems very aware of peoples opinions on it, and they themselves have addressed that it was severely lacking in quality.

With Tim Reynolds in the studio with them this time around for the first time since Before These Crowded Streets, which I find to be their best album, I think we can expect good things.

Based on Dave's Twitter, it seems as if things have been going very smoothly in the studio.

I haven't been interested in the band since Before These Crowded Streets (which is one of my favorite albums, ever), but if Tim is back in the studio, I'll give it a shot.

You must have not gone to a single show this year... which was their best tour since 2000.

Nice assumption based on nothing, but no. I just don't care for their setlists and how the draw out songs. I love their albums though, hell, Crush is one of my favorite songs and it's a 7 minute song.

It's a little odd to like a Jam band, but not to like their Jam sessions. Still, I'll never forget the first time my then girlfriend, now wife & I went to a DMB show. I just knew them from their first two albums and their VH1 videos. I thiought they were AOR, comtemporary soft rock and was worried I'd be one of the youngest people there (as I was when I went to Elton John or The Eagles). Instead I was shocked to see it full of hippies and that I was one of the OLDEST people there. Anyway, I've seen them like four times since and really enjoy the shows -- especially the last one at the MGM, which they released as part of their Live Trax series. Great show!

In DMB's case, I can understand. Compare a DMB show from '98 or so to what you hear now and you definitely hear a difference. The improv jams on songs like #41 and Jimi Thing used to just explode in my ears. But now, the efforts on those same tunes seem to drone on and on, and it actually makes the song feel like it is slowed down. Sometimes listening to recent live recordings seems more laborious than enjoyable. Just one man's opinion.

With that said, any new DMB album that comes out, I'm going to give it a chance. Although I feel the last couple of discs have been disappointments (one big exception being Dave's solo album "Some Devil", which was tremendous), I'm always hoping they'll rebound in a big way. I do hope that "The Idea of You" is included.

I'd agree if that's what their albums sounded like, but they don't.

That is interesting... This band is at its absolute finest on the road.

Wonderful musicians, with talent matched by few...but there is too much of a good thing.

I hope this is a good effort. I didn't both picking up the last album, mainly due to my lack of interest in the radio singles that were played. Not that I disliked Dave's solo album, but it sounded too much like that to me and too little like DMB.

I've never been to a DMB concert, but I did have the opportunity to go to a DM & TR concernt and that was really a great experience.

Yeah, no shit. I was just looking at my DMB smart playlist and I have EIGHT versions of "What Would You Say", which - let's be honest about this, isn't that interesting a song to begin with and really doesn't need eight different interpretations.

I have between 300-400 shows on my external hard drive... it all depends on your tastes.

In any event, there really is nothing like a good studio album, so I'm extremely hopeful/excited.

re: Dave Matthews Band - Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King - 6/2/09

OK, so we're past the ticketing date. When do we find out what tickets we got? I'll be super pissed if I plunked down $35 for membership and $165 on a pair of tickets and I end up with total shit seats. I've never before bought tickets without seeing where they were first, and I don't much care for it.

If you ordered from the Warehouse you don't find out your exact seat locations until right before the tickets ship.

You wouldn't want to buy Pearl Jam fan club tickets then....you don't find out what/where your seats are until you pick them up the day of the show at the will call window!

MGM Grand Saturday 5/9. Last time they played there, I just bought my tickets through Ticketmaster. They played 2 nights and the Saturday show sold out instantly; fortunately, I was still able to snag fairly decent seats to the Friday show. If you get a chance, check out the recordings form that show (Live Trax, Vol 9) -- they were really on that night.

Yikes! I don't think I could handle that. I understand that these fan clubs can't always land the best seats, but you'd think they'd at least have access to all-decent ones (i.e. lower bowl). Even though the MGM Grand Garden Arena isn't that big (17,000), I've had terrible, terrible seats there. I snagged Hannah Montan tix for my daughter and she was SO excited. We were in the last row, back corner and up so high that a support beam blocked not only most of the stage, but most of the jumbo-tron as well. I took pictures for my daughter and it's so funny -- the jumbo-tron shows only Miley's chest. I half-expect the Catch-A-Predator guy from NBC to show up at my house one day to ask me about it.

:
Nice, yea I saw your location and figured thats where you'd be going shortly after I asked.

As far as LT Vol 9... yea, thats a nice couple of shows. I actually have all the Live Trax volumes that have been released thus far, and I do enjoy Vol 9 quite a bit. I love their cover of Neil Young's Down By The River

Anyway, good luck with tickets.... even when I was in my first year as a Warehouse member, I did pretty well seat wise... hopefully you do the same.
