The Robe: SE and Blu-ray--> 3/17/09

Info from classic flix:
No word on the other upcoming **Fox** titles previously mentioned (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Man Hunt & Stars and Stripes Forever), but we've just learned about a solid March 17th release date for the Historical Epic The Robe - Special Edition (1953) in Standard & Blu-Ray format.

No additional details are available except that the SD version should have both the CinemaScope and Flat version.
Retail for the SE is $19.98 and Blu-ray $34.98.

I thought they would've announced Demetrius & the Gladiators at the same time. I hope it follows shortly. I like it much better.

They should have sold it as a double feature set like they did THE FRENCH CONNECTION 1 & 2 years ago.

Yeah, I didn't care much for the Robe. But it is a nice box cover. I haven't see Demetrius and the Gladiators but if a SE of that follows I may have to check it out.
Id be intrested in other titles along those lines too.

That looks more like a book-cover than a DvD cover.

Does anyone know if they have to pay stars or original movie poster artist extra when they use their image on dvd covers?

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way - would have got this on release day, but with the DVD getting the short end on bonus features which could have been added to a second disc...as chris_sc77 said "fuck you Fox"

Re: The Robe: SE and Blu-ray--> 3/17/09

So I decided to watch my just recently purchased dvd of THE ROBE.
What a piece of crap!
Restoration? There are scenes that look like olive colored and blotty.
Yes, there are some scenes that look good, but it seems more that are bad.
When I watched the old dvd my attention was taken away from the constant change in color scheme. Don't waste your money and stick with the old dvd.
The extras are no big deal. They did have a nice photo images section.
