Tivo Season Pass help

Is there a way to schedule a season pass for a show during non-peak hours? For example I have a season pass to both Time Warp and Mythbusters on Discovery. Like all cable channels they show them at all hours of the day. Is there a way to set the season pass to record weekly, at say 2am, so that I can free up some primetime scheduling?

Or is the only way around this to to record manually by time?

Just lower the priority in the Season Pass list below that of the primetime shows you're worried about.

I knew it had to be something simple I was missing. So by placing something lower in the pass schedule it will automatically record the next available showing of the conflicting program?

It always tries to record ALL showings. So by giving it a lower priority it will record ALL showings that are NOT at the same time as anything above it.

Just to be clear, does the same apply to one-off recordings? For example I want to record the Muppet Christmas special on Wed but I have two conflicting shows. I tell it to cancel the conflicting recording and it will record the Muppets that night but still catch my other two shows at a later time?

It's amazing that in the 3-4 years I've had Tivo I've never had three shows conflict.

For a "one-off" I would just select the specific showing that you want to record and not bother w/ a SP in the first place...

Right... what I'm getting at is when I set it to record, I already have two actual shows I have season passes for, so I have to cancel one of those to free up the tuner to record.

Sounds like the priority thing will work though. I was just curious if there was a permenant way to make a show like Mythbusters default to recording am showings.

I'd have to go back and double check but I think "one-time -- manual" recordings take priority over all SPs.

Not that I'm aware of aside from doing the manually recording, or going in occasionally and changing the SP manually (going into "show upcoming eps." and modifying things there).

Not a huge deal, a manual is easy enough to set up, it just won't catch the program if the time changes like a season pass. I find it odd that with all the revolutionary features Tivo has brought to the table that something simple as this appears to be an oversight.

Actually if you record a show one time it would catch it if the time changes. But it won't if you just do a manual by time/channel.

So just find the show in the guide and hit record and you will be all set.

As far as season pass priority goes, I always make sure my network shows are set for a higher priority than the cable shows that repeat. That way you won't miss the shows that only air once.

When I set up my season pass to Top Chef and to WSOP, both times Tivo told me I had a conflict and to "view upcoming episodes" and choose one of them. I picked a 2am slot for Top Chef and the Season Pass began using the 2am repeat every week.

Awesome SoSpacey. That sounds perfect. Actually the same thing Jadzia said so it's nice to have a confirmation. Not that the world will end if I don't record the Muppets for my kids, but nice to have a permanent work around.

Thanks to everyone for your kind help.
