From DVD Times:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD and US Blu-ray Disc release of Frozen River on 10th February 2009. Strapped for money and having been deserted by her husband, working class Ray (Melissa Leo), reluctantly teams up with Lila (Misty Upham), a widowed Mohawk Indian, to smuggle illegal immigrants across the frozen St. Lawrence River from Canada to the U.S. in the trunk of a Dodge Spirit. Both women swear each trip will be their last, but one final run across the river leads to a showdown with the law on all sides.

I've heard great things about this film and a lot of people are putting it on their year-end lists. It never opened in my neck of the woods, so I look forward to checking it out.

This was excellent and I'd easily recommend it as a blind buy to anyone who was a fan of Sean Penn's first three directorial efforts (the Indian Runner, the Crossing Guard and the Pledge) as they've got quite a bit in common tonally and stylistically. Nice to see a Blu-ray for such a small film -- although given that Sony distributed it, this isn't a huge surprise, I suppose -- I'll have to give the disc a rent for the commentary; hopefully Hunt will talk a bit about filming in my town.
