Target $5.50 YMMV

Most of the titles listed in the previous $9.99 thread are marked down to $7.50 and are on sale for $5.50 ... if you can find them. Here are most of the ones I saw marked, but some were out of stock.

The Abyss
All That Jazz (SE)
Bubba Ho-Tep (CE)
Bulletproof Monk (SE)
Cast Away (2-disc digi)
Cheaper by the Dozen (Steve Martin "Baker's Dozen" edition)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (SE)
Commando (SE)
The Commitments (SE)
Day After Tomorrow (SE)
Die Another Day (SE)
Fish Called Wanda (SE)
Full Monty (SE)
Guys and Dolls (SE)
Hannibal (SE)
Hoosiers (SE)
I <3 Huckabees (2-disc)
I Robot (SE)
Independence Day (SE)
Midnight Cowboy (SE)
NY NY (30th AE)
Raging Bull (SE)
Revenge of the Nerds (SE)
Rocky Horror Picture Show (2D CE)
There's Something More About Mary (FS SE)
Wall Street (SE)

Update: One of the stores I visited didn't have the sale price marked, but it scanned down to $5.50 when I checked.

Nice prices. I was heading to target this evening anyways. Think I'll pick up "A Fish Called Wanda" and "Midnight Cowboy".
If the prices aren't the same at my target I will hunt you down MrE. LOL...just kidding. I'll come back and confirm if they are the same here.
Thanks

That's a different Bill & Ted set. The one at Target is just the 2 movies (2 Discs).

Is Hoosiers (SE) the 2 disk version with the basketball cover? Someone I doubt it but thought I'd check.

Thanks, MrE - I found the sale items at my local Target and picked up:

All That Jazz (Special Music Edition)
The Graduate (Special Edition)
The Great Escape (Special Edition) (2-Disc)
New York, New York (30th Anniversary 2-Disc Edition)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (25th Anniversary Edition) [OOP according to Amazon]

According to Amazon, this edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show is out of print, and All That Jazz, The Great Escape and New York, New York are the best available editions. A better 2-disc of The Graduate came out last year.

Sale is going on all month

Just a note: according to the sale sign, these DVDs will all be on sale at $5.50 through January 4 or 5. They all are in a red-edged boxes called "Premier Collection", and would be a good deal at their regular price of $7.50. So if the item you want is not in stock, chances would seem that stock might be replenished before January. Many are two-disk versions, but I noticed "9 to 5" was only a full-frame edition, so check carefully. At my Target, the majority of items were grouped together, but there were a few sprinkled among the regular DVDs too.

The $5 section was all on sale for $4.75 apiece tonight. Hotel Rwanda, Mr. Mom, that section.

What's inside the "Premier Collection" red boxes? Do the DVDs have normal cover art or any slipcovers?

"Premier Collection" has nothing to do with anything. It's just a gimmick to tie them into a "series" when they're just existing releases. Some of them, like Midnight Cowboy, are pretty impressive. Some, like The Abyss, are not (considering there's a 2 disc version of that with an extended cut and all, and this is just the single disc).

They're just red slipsleeves over existing keepcases, or red-bordered coversheets rubber cemented to the front of an existing digipack.

Some stores apparently do not have this display--someone suggested it was a "target/supertarget" difference. All the targets I've been to at all have had it, so I don't know what evil they have wrought upon the ones that don't :\
