Good non-Region 1 titles?
Just got my first region-free player. I've heard there are a lot of titles available in other regions that aren't available in R1, or that have SE's or features not on the R1 version.
any recommendations/suggestions?
(NOT looking for foreign language films - just foreign releases of english language flicks)

here's a couple from the UK that i recommend:
santa sangre
phantasm 2
sleepless
garth marenghi's darkplace
piranha
starman
all of these are proper aspect ratios and anamorphic.

THE DEER HUNTER has an exclusive commentary track by Cimino.
THE AFRICAN QUEEN is available in a so-so transfer, but has a commentary track by Jack Cardiff which most likely will not be on the eventual Region 1 release.
Several of the John Carpenter movies have terrific commentary tracks by Carpenter (usually along with a cast member).
There are tons of other titles .... those threads mentioned above should help.
And .... now is a great time to buy from Amazon UK (my preferred supplier over there) because the exchange rate is the best it's been in many years.
If you're a Laurel & Hardy fan, grab the 21-disk set that is now under GBP50 - it'll cost about $75-80 including shipping - it's a knock-out.
