DVD Talk review of 'Sanford and Son - The Complete Series'

I read Paul Mavis's DVD review of Sanford and Son - The Complete Series at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=35598 and...

All seventeen discs come stacked on one single plastic spindle (molded onto an ultra-thin plastic form that fits into the outer DVD box), with a rough corrugated cardboard insert used to hold the whole stack in place. So if you want to pull out disc three from season five, you have to pull out all of the discs that are stacked right on top of each other (hello scratches) to get at it. The cardboard DVD box holder approximates the size of a two-hardcase boxed set, so shelf-space is greatly reduced - along with the safety of the discs.

Brilliant, incisive review of one of my all-time favorites! I held out on buying the individual seasons once the complete series trend began, hoping for a release, and in spite of the packaging, will be buying this anyway. Pity your overview isn't included as a booklet - it would greatly increase the value of this set.

That really is awfully nice of you to say, Mike -- thank you!

And from your lips to Sony's (or any other studio's) ears: I'm available for booklets, commentaries, featurette documentaries, photo galleries, text bios, cover art, stocking shelves, weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Thanks again, Mike -- that made the 55+ plus hours all worthwhile.

Yeah, I've tried that line of reasoning with the wife - it doesn't work!

A spindle is a hell of a lot better than the new eco- friendly packaging having dealt with the last Simpsons set and the Complete Fraggle Rock 25th box set.
