Miracle at St. Anna (R1) in February
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Miracle at St. Anna on 10th February 2009 priced at $29.99 SRP. Spike Lee directs this story of faith, courage and sacrifice that is based on the novel by James McBride. The film is based on the true story of four African American soldiers stationed in German-occupied Italy during World War II. Separated from their unit and trapped behind Nazi lines, ranking officer Aubrey Stamps (Derek Luke), hot-headed Bishop Cummings (Michael Ealy), radioman Hector Negron (Laz Alonso) and gentle giant Sam Train (Omar Benson Miller) survive a shocking massacre, rescuing a young Italian boy in the process. The five make their way to the nearest village, where they join forces with the local opposition, risking their lives and gathering intelligence for a nation that considers them second-class citizens.
Where the Blu-ray Disc release has deleted scenes and two featurettes, the DVD release gets stiffed and is very much barebones. The film is presented in 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio and English, French and Spanish audio options.

Barebones!!!!!!!!NO fucking way. Every fucking movie I love they do this to.
This just disgusts me. I will not support the release of this DVD even though I loved the film. Maybe I'll pick it up when I find it for less than $5.

DVD Talk Limited Edition
This was there and gone before I had a chance to catch this in the theater. A shame because I'm a huge Spike Lee fan. I'll give this a rent on BR before I purchase however, due to the mixed reviews.

That cover art looks like something worthy of a DTV film.
