Technically, isn't it part of Season 7, though? I thought we were only getting 22 hours in 2009, so this was considered to be the other 2 hours.

Granted, there's going to be a gap of time between the end of this movie and where Season 7 begins, but I thought this was going to be considered part of Season 7 (meaning it will show up on the Season 7 DVD sets, future syndication of the show, etc.)

No, this issue has been brought up and the producers stated that this 2-hour movie is supposed to be stand-alone and we will be getting 24 hours in 2009.

Plus, I'm sure you already know this movie is getting it's own DVD release 2 days after it airs.

I know that no one has seen the movie yet, but do you think someone who has yet to begin watching any of the 24 seasons watch it before season 1 or before season 7? I have been collecting all of the seasons knowing that eventually I will get into the show and am just trying to plan ahead if you know what I mean.

1-3 are kinda like a trilogy. Most of the cast stays the same and there are some intertwining plot threads.

4-6 pretty much stand alone plots with lots of cast changes

7 seems like it is going to tie into a lot of the previous six seasons including a major character returning. Watching this season/movie first will kill any emotional impact of said character on previous seasons.

If you already have them, just do yourself a favor and watch season one. It will literally take you a couple days tops. Once you are in, you won't be able to stop. Jack Bauer is like crack. If you have the DVR space record the movie and store it for later, but it will be on DVD next week so even that seems pointless. 24 plays better on DVD anyway due to the whole 'real time' thing and waiting 6 days between episodes sucks.

Yes, but the only way to see it in HD is to watch it on TV.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go ahead and DVR the movie anyways to have it in HD.

No problem Max. Do yourself a favor and put whatever DVD you were going to watch this weekend on the back burner and watch the first disc of season one.

True, but DVR space issues are a higher concern, IMO. Especially if Max intends on watching all six seasons. It will be quite some time before that space is freed up.

Also, I'm thinking a Blu release is in the cards, if not I suspect it will be included in the season 7 set.
