The Killer Inside Me (Winterbottom): Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba

From The Hollywood Reporter:
Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba are teaming with director Michael Winterbottom for "The Killer Inside Me," an adaptation of a novel from noir author Jim Thompson.

The story follows a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. Alba plays a prostitute.
I'm extremely ambivalent about this one. The Thompson book is a seriously twisted cult classic, and while I have some faith in Casey Affleck, I doubt Alba has the requisite chops. Cue drooling smiley in response to the sentence "Alba plays a prostitute".

Alba is a movie star, of sorts. Not an accomplished actress. Movie stars and real actors are two different things at times..in her case she's not accomplished as an actor.

You're taking it way too literally. It just means we get Alba dressed skankily and thus half-naked! You know this to be true!

Knowing she's an absolute prude (and apparently very nasty) in real life our dreams will not come true.

This was already made into a underrated film with Stacy Keach and maybe now we can get that 1976 film on DVD.

Uh, you had me until "Jessica Alba."

She's like good movie kryptonite.

My great grandfather wrote this book. We've been in development hell for about ten years on this, excited to see it's finally on it's way. Go see the Grifters and the Getaway to get a sense of Thompson's stories.

Jessica Alba will never be nude... so I can't get excited if she won't take acting seriously.

Casey Affleck is great though.

Actually the 76 film was terrible altho Keach wasn't a bad casting choice. I like Affleck but he seems a bad fit for this role. Needs to be someone more like a yoing Warren Oates or Tommy Lee Jones.

I read the novel last year and enjoyed it quite a bit. Never saw the '76 film, but I've heard bad things. Hopefully they don't butcher it this time around.

Filming is about to begin in New Mexico, followed by Oklahoma.

Having read the book last year, I'd rather see Koteas in the lead over Affleck. Alba has no business whatsoever being in this...

Re: The Killer Inside Me (Winterbottom): Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba

Looks like the graphic (to some viewers, gratuitous) violence in this one might be a tough sell to audiences.
