Electric guitar for 6 year old daughter
I'm looking for a cheap, but decent quality electric guitar for my daughter. She got an acoustic guitar for her birthday and she's already learned a few chords, but its just too hard for her to push down on the strings enough, and she's getting frustrated. I looked online on a few "learn to play guitar" sites and a few mentioned that its easier to play electric when you start out. She desperately wants to learn and I don't want to tell her she can't, so I am trying to find an electric that she can use.
Her acoustic seems to be the right size (might be a tad big). Its 3/4 size.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
Joeboo

I just picked up a 3/4 guitar at Target for $25 for my daughter, so you could check the clearance rack at yours. It was a Disney's Rock Band one, whatever that is. But it seems to be built ok (Regular $100).

That's the one she got. Its Camp Rock, but its the acoustic version. I checked and they don't have any electric ones in the state of minnesota, so i'm out of luck.
I'll take a look at that fender. Kinda not what i wanted to spend, but she seems pretty eager to learn.
I'll have to hit target and see if they have any other ones going on clearance.

Yeah, they had the acoustic one at my Target too, but I stuck with the electric. It's ugly as hell, but I kind of like it. This was in Moorhead a couple of weeks ago, I know they are sold out there.

I've heard good hings about Daisy Guitars. The company makes stuff for girls and apparently they make pretty good instruments.

Yeah but if you do, get the 10 string version of the BC Rich Bich.

If you haven't heard much about 10-string guitars, it's because they are uncommon and somewhat misunderstood. Many players love the natural chorus effect produced by 12 strings, but 12-string guitars sound odd when combined with high gain and distortion. Young rockers discovered a solution in the mid Seventies when, in an effort to improve the clarity of their electrified 12-strings, they removed the octave strings on the low E and A. The gain-induced dissonance disappeared, and the 10-string guitar was born.
Very interesting, thanks robo.

I am not the world's foremost guitar expert, but the reason electrics are easier on the fingers is because they use lighter strings. Just go to your local music store and ask for some extra light acoustic strings. That should solve your problem for $10. Plus, the strings that ship on 99% of guitars suck anyway.
An electric guitar needs an amp, cable, etc, etc. That's a whole different ball of wax.

This will cost you some money, but what makes a guitar harder/easier to play is the action (how far the strings are off the neck) and the frets (the small metal bars you hold the strings against). Pretty much every cheap guitar has action and frets that need to be adjusted for optimal playing. Heck even some nice expensive guitars come out of the factory with serious work needing to be done to them.
