Who, in movies, would you like to see retire?

and just never make another movie ever. no comebacks, no going the indy route, just never hear from again. we are also talking prematurely, not just the old folks.

Can be actor/actress/director/etc...

Tom Hanks, my all-time least favorite actor.

Kevin Smith (sorry I know I'm breaking hearts on this forum), but dear lord one-trick pony is an understatement, we get it, you love making fun of yourself & potty humor, can you offer anything else.

Sean Penn, Angelina Jolie, Greg Kinear, Adam Sandler, George Lucas.

And sadly Romero & Jackie Chan.

Just to name a few.

Orlando Bloom and Ashton Kutcher's retirement for the resurrection of Paul Newman and Heath Ledger. It's only fair.

If Rob Schneider never made another movie I'd be happy.

He seems like a nice enough guy in real life but I'd swear he picks his movies by dumpster diving in the trash cans of "Bob's skool of screenwriting"

Agree with most of the named people here. Also any actors I disagree with politically, which is all of them.

A lot of these people listed thus far I really like, and I wouldn't wish retirement on them even if they are producing subpar stuff.

The closest I'll come is George Lucas -- he's always suggested he wanted to go back to making small independent movies. He should quit talking about it and do it, and stop producing anything else but his little personal projects. He might even make something good, but the point is he wouldn't be ruining anything else.

The bigger problem is that people should stop taking stuff for the paycheck. I know these guys probably have million-dollar expenses to match their million dollar lifestyles, but is it a crime not to work? Is it really better to work on something terrible than to wait for something good?

What about the cast of An American Carol. Also, uh, Tom Selleck.

Not only are these 2 of the most annoying people in films, they are also 2 of the least talented so there is no harm done with their permanent removal:

Adam Sandler
Sly Stallone

None.

Let whomever make whatever crap they want. I don't have to watch.

Plenty of good choices listed so far, but one that always pops into my head when I see he's in a new movie: Sam Jackson. Ugh. Johnny Depp is pretty close, too.
