Smallville -- "Instinct" -- 10/09/08

"Instinct"
Spoiler:
Tess and her team perform tests on Clark s crystal, causing it to send a beam of light into the universe. This triggers the arrival of Maxima a queen from the planet who is searching for her soul mate, who she believes sent the signal. Unfortunately, Maxima's power is too great for mortal men and her kiss kills them. The seductive Maxima arrives in Metropolis and begins her search, starting with Jimmy.

I wonder if it will be better than the animated STAS episode with Maxima.

Maxima was just plain lame. This is the type of villain that might show up on Lois and Clark, not Smallville.

All right, it wasn't the best, but I enjoyed it and it was better than last week.

Loved the part where Lois interrupted the hot and the heavy.

Jealous Lois pretty much made the episode, but the Lois and Clark anvils are starting to get old and obnoxious.

Mediocre episode, but still enjoyable.
Though I could have passed on the super HD close up of Maxima's hairy lip.
Cassidy Freeman continues to add excitement, intrigue, suspense and hotness to this show with her character, I love it! A most excellent addition to the cast. Solid character.

Well hell no, but I'd rather not have the 82nd 'Lois, the perfect mate is out there for me somewhere. When she comes along, I'll know.' show ending scene too.

Wait, I thought Clark left the farm? Does Lois think Clark commutes everyday without a car?

Who knew they had stripper shoes in outer space.

clark's a fool
I could see him not wanting to leave Earth, but that chick was the hottest thing this show has had and she totally wanted him

Krista Allen was a much hotter bad girl in her kissing-bandit role.

I'm enjoying this season much more than the last two, and I like how they have integrated Lois into a full time role.

I'm too naive. My nerd meter went into overdrive when the crystal popped up onto the screne. I thought there was a W behind it and I was thinking Wayne. That would mean Batman took it, but he's not that stupid. Damn!

Are any of the old allies from Veritas still alive? Too obvious for Oliver to take it?

I must be in the minority, becase I don't mind the Lois/Clark anvils. I actually think TW and ED have very good chemistry, so I always get smirky when they are dancing around the issue. I'd probably hate it more if it was a Lana/Clark thing. <shrug>

The episode was definitely enjoyable. Talk about hot and heavy in the elevator and on the desk.

Given the beginning of the episode I really really don't get Chloe getting over Jimmy's macking. Not to mention bringing "closure" to Clark, although I still think she's lying. I still think the best resolution to that relationship will be her somehow sacraficing herself to save Clark. Be it life for life, or her transfering into the new Fortress with her Braniac brain. Given a choice I'd prefer the sacrafice angle.

I thought it was decent but the whole B movie "Species" vibe dragged it down quite a bit. All the character development (Chloe/Jimmy, Clark/Chloe, Clark/Lois) was excellent though.

Didn't care for this at all. As someone else mentioned, it felt like a B movie (Bobbie Phillips in the Chameleon movie series).

To be fair, the plot and character (Maxima) are legitimate. It's not like the Smallville team came up with this one on their own. However, I do think some of the dialogue could have been better. I don't think it was all that consistent.
