Ealing Studios set is 16.40
British war collection is 16.40
Peter Sellers Collection is 15.00

They are price cuts. I've been wanting Ealing Studios. Thanks for the tip on the Guiness Collection, it helped me find these others. I already have the Guiness collection and it is a fantastic set that I would run to buy at this price.

That is fantastic! The Ealing Studios collection is a steal at that price and it'll be great to cross that one off my wishlist.

I highly recommend both the Sellers and the Guiness collections if you haven't bought them already.

Thanks schbee!

There is something odd about this. The picture of the set and the standard price of $59.95 pretty much matches what you find on amazon for comparison. However, on amazon it shows the sets as released in 2002 and on DD it shows it as a pre-order that won't be released until 10/21/2008. In addition, once you add it to your cart it states a standard price of $27 with the deal giving a savings of $10.

Things just don't add up, especially with it looking like such a deal for 5 movies for under $17. I looked on DVDTalk's release list and it does not appear as a new release on 10/21/2008. Any ideas?

I think I see, so basically it is being re-released (so to speak) at a new price. And some vendors are still showing the old price while others have already updated to the new price.

So it really isn't $60 anymore but more like $27, which allows DD to further discount it to $17. Amamzon still has it listed high, while Borders has it for $27.

What a bargain...I jumped on the Guinness and Ealing sets, and also added Rancho Deluxe (great 70's Jeff Bridges comedy) for another $5.99!

Thanks schbee!

Okay, here are some links:

The Alec Guinness Collection ($16.40)

Ealing Studios Comedy Collection ($16.40)

British War Collection ($16.40)

The Peter Sellers Collection ($15.18)

BTW - Can someone who is with the new ownership PLEASE figure out how to allow us to post links that you *can* get affiliate credit for, but without making the blasted things so awkwardly long that it makes the thread unreadable? I *hate* having to scroll left-right to read a thread because some post has a line in it that exceeds my screen width. I'm not trying to rip you guys off of some link-thru money, I just want y'all to find a way to do it while maintaining some semblance of user-friendliness, that's all. </rant>

Along the same (but lower brow) lines--the 7 disc Carry On Collection has apparently had a price drop--several sites list the MSRP as $34.97--DD still has the list price as $89.95, but their price is $21.26 (but with an availability date of 10/21)--DVDEmpire & others have it available immediately (but a few dollars more)

I own all of them following a B1G1 sale at DVD Planet several months ago. The Ealing Comedy and British War sets are particularly nice collections. Highly recommended.

Which, if past experience dictates, will be in about 3 weeks!
