Worst Week
Was surprised not to see a thread already started! Premieres tomorrow night and is receiving some pretty rave reviews. Anyone tuning in? I, for one, have just been reading too much good stuff not to be. Plus, I am already a huge fan of the CBS monday night line up (thanks to How I met Your Mother), so I see no downside.

Watched it... didn't much like it. The pilot was far too similar to Meet the Parents. Of course, that's just one episode. It could develop into something nice, but I didn't laugh once... giggled a couple of times, yes. Laugh out loud? No.

Although, who the hell uses a candlestick these days?

Last year I said that the Big Bang Theory was the worst pilot I had ever seen that made it to series...
It only took CBS one season to top themselves. Honestly, where do you go with such a silly concept as this? A guy that just keeps doing clumsy and stupid things? That's what passes for a series concept these days?
Seriously?
On top of that, some of the incidents were just plain idiotic. Mistaking the kitchen for a bathroom? Really?
I just don't see where this show could go from here. at least with Big Bang it has a concept that could work if done right, and has really become a pretty funny show. I'll try it again next week, but I'm just amazed what 's getting on the air these days.

Worst Weak (Show).
I agree with the Big Bang comment. I ditched that show about three episodes in and never looked back. This will not even get a 2nd viewing. Way too much other good stuff on out there to waste time on this just for Kurtwood Smith

I liked it...found it to be miles better than Big Bang. Yeah it was stupid, but it was also pretty funny IMO. I really like the chick on this one, very cute...

It was passable, nothing I'm clamouring to watch more of... but at least there was no laugh track. Agreed about it being better than Big Bang Theory though, that show is horrible.

What really bothered me was that all the "jokes" were forced. They never even let the comedy happen naturally. Just one example of this was the ending "gag" with the painting catching on fire. Seemingly, the mother hid it right next to the breaker box where the father would always go to fix the lights. This makes no sense because why would you hide a gift that took over a year to finish in a place the man would always go???? But I guess that was the only way to get it to catch on fire, which we all know was HILLARIOUS!!!! Not to mention the whole Mr. Bean thing of trying to "fix it".
Awful, awful writing. How this show got the greenlight blows my mind.

I laughed quite a bit, but at some points the show did shift from being extremely silly funny to just stupid (that last gag with the candles was definitely forced. very weak.)
WAY TOO much, almost like a bunch of commericals strung together. I hope they flesh out the characters more in the next episode - the "Man breaks mirror, has 7 years of bad luck" show will burn and tire out at the pace the writers were going in last nite's pilot.

I'm really interested to see how they will stretch the series out. They do have a wedding to plan, a baby on the way, and we know about an overly affectionate coworker to play off of. It doesn't always have to focus on the parents, which is one tactic they could take. Maybe extend to his work?

I was really looking forward to this but I turned it off about halfway through last night. I'll try to watch the 2nd half tonight but I think this is a quick dump from my scheduled recordings list.
