Silent Hill: Homecoming (SH V) -- Sept. 30th

EGM magazine confirmed that there will be a female supporting character named Elle, who is an old school friend of Alex. It is unknown whether she will be a playable character at the moment. A trucker speculated to be Travis Grady of Silent Hill: Origins also appears to transport Alex to Silent Hill. Silent Hill 2 's Pyramid Head has also been shown in screenshots, although the storyline explanation for his appearance is unclear.

I'm looking forward to this as well although I don't think I'll get it upon release. I'll probably pick it up a few months later used. There are too many games coming out in October. Saints Row 2, Far Cry 2, Little Big Planet and Fallout 3 should be enough punishment for my wallet for awhile. And that includes putting both Rock Band 2 and GH: World Tour on the back burner until hopefully after the holidays. And then I only need to figure out how to stop time so that I'm able to play all of them. But in the end yes, I am looking forward to Silent Hill V.

If Marilyn Manson made video games, they'd be the Silent Hill series. Definitely looks creepy. Not exactly a graphic spectacle, but hopefully it still brings the creepiness. I haven't played an SH game in a while, but I loved the movie.

Has there been any talk of a boxed set release of the 4 silent hill games? I never got around to picking them up and they still go for $50 new on amazon! Either that or maybe sony is gonna release them on the psn?

I seem to remember an overseas release of the first 4, but I don't think one was ever released here. When the Silent Hill movie came out I was able to unload my PSOne copy of the original for $80 . I'll definitely be picking this up.

I think there was two oversea releases. The Japan version had the first 4 I believe while the europe collection had 2,3, and 4.
The 10 year anniversary as well as the film sequel is due in 2009. I've heard they want to do something special, either a box set of the entire collection or a remake of the first game, which would be awesome if it was done ala what Capcom did with Resident Evil on the Gamecube.
This is probably the one game I'm looking forward to the most but I'm student teaching until December and have no free time.

G4TV Hands-On: Silent Hill: Homecoming
There's a few combat motions and sluggishness that have me a little curious about the flow, but the atmosphere and some of the positive combat elements look to be implemented well. Next Tuesday!

The game has been available to "sample" for a couple of days now. I'll run through abit tonight and leave some impressions tomorrow. There are rumors on some Silent Hill websites that the playtime is very in line with SH3 (or less than 5 hours with a guide).

If it's really that short I'll beat it and sell it within a few days much like the room.

I'm gonna wait for a price drop. I own all the previous Silent Hill games (including both the Xbox and PS2 Greatest Hits version of Silent Hill 2), but I've got too much on my plate right now.

Well... The "horror" of the game is very much in line with SH3. Its very in your face from the get go. To me, I'd have to compare the combat to that of PoP: WW...its cool at first but then just very cumbersome. The story is very akin to SH2. Overall, I'd rank the series something like:
Silent Hill
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Silent Hill: 3
Silent Hill: Origins
Silent Hill: The Room
...personally, I don't believe its worth the purchase with that short a play time. Maybe at a GH price though.

So is this game directly tied into Silent Hill/Silent Hill: 3/Silent Hill: Origins or more of a standalone a'la Silent Hill 2/Silent Hill: The Room?
