Favorite William Friedkin Film?

He's certainly not the filmmaker he used to be, but when he was on his game he made some great films. What is your favorite?

Hard not to vote for one of the scariest films ever made. Cruising has gotten a sizable chunk of negative publicity over the years, but I think it's one of Friedkin's best. What ever happened to that rumored SE of Sorcerer?

The Exorcist scared the crap outta me. Not an easy task for a movie to do.... so this one's an easy pick.

Come on, "The Exorcist" better win this poll. Not only still stands head and shoulders above any horror film ever made. But it's Friedkin's best. "The French Connection" is second. "To Live and Die in L.A." third. "Sorcerer" is fourth. And sorry, but I think "Cruising" deserves all the negative press it deserves. Not only for the subject matter, but it's a terrible film (IMO).

OP here..I can't believe I left Cruising out in the cold.

Anyway, I'd rank them...

The Exorcist
Sorcerer
The French Connection
Cruising
To Live And Die In LA
Bug
Rampage
The Boys in the Band

Tough choice between French Connection and To Live & Die in LA. Exorcist close third.

Original version of Exorcist that is....

damn, i don't know what to pick, to live and die in la is one of the most criminally underrated movies, but yet he brought us French Connection and the Exorcist. Don't get me started on Bug though

The Exorcist is the one and only masterpiece in Friedkin's filmography.

The Boys in the Band, since it's the only one I've seen.

'Bug' was fantastic. It's one of his best works. Amazing film.

Yeah it's a tough choice. But for me 'To Live And Die In LA' is the better film.

This was a really tough call. I think The Exorcist is one of the best directed films I've ever seen, but I had to vote for The French Connection.

No contest here for me...."The Exorcist" all the way. Seeing this in '74 at the drive-in at 9 years old is the closest thing I have to a childhood trauma!

Although The Exorcist scared the crap outta me like no other movie before or since, I've still gotta go with The French Connection.

Then again, I have a thing for grimy, 70s NYC cop films.
